Had tickets for 70mm IMAX Oppenheimer at 6PM. They couldn't figure out how to sync the audio to the video and after 20 minutes gave up and refunded everyone.
What a let down.
I was also at that screening. Nightmare.

From what I read the Sound of Freedom movie itself doesn't stray into any weird conspiracy theory stuff it just does what any movie based on a true story would do.. stretch things to make an entertaining movie. Who can't get a little pumped up about a hero kicking the doors in and carrying the children out?
Probably works as some kind of fantasy revenge pr0n for QAnon adherents that feel like the movie reflects one of their core beliefs.
There's been some criticism of Ballard and Operation Underground Railroad's motivations and efficacy which of course people will twist into "why do you love child sex trafficking" when a lot of it is just pointing out that the movie's depictions are fiction and that real solutions to the problem mostly don't involve action scenes.
So afaik the movie itself doesn't get into anything weird, it's just hard when Caviezel says what he does and Ballard does an interview about how the transgender movement aids and abets child sex slavery it makes it hard for me to get any motivation to see the movie and reward the messaging around the movie.
Saw it tonight, didn’t pick up on any weird stuff. Powerful movie that opened my eyes to the trafficking world. Kinda sickening honestly.
Seeing Barbie tonight, Oppenheimer tomorrow. I can't wait! I also want to see Sound of Freedom but I'll wait until it's on streaming or I can rent it. Doesn't seem like a 'fun' theater experience but it sounds like a really powerful movie. Have to be in the right head space for that one.
The Quest stands upon the edge of a knife. Stray but a little, and it will fail, to the ruin of all. Yet hope remains while the Company is true. Go Flames Go!
Jim Caviezel, who played the role of Jesus in The Passion Of The Christ, has promoted a false QAnon conspiracy theory claiming that children are being drained of their blood.
errrrr wow
Quote:
“Essentially, you have adrenaline in your body,” the actor said via a video link. “And when you are scared, you produce adrenaline. If you’re an athlete, you get in the fourth quarter, you have adrenaline that comes out of you.
“If a child knows he’s going to die, his body will secrete this adrenaline. And they have a lot of terms that they use that he takes me through, but it’s the worst horror I’ve ever seen. The screaming alone, even if I never, ever, ever saw it, it’s beyond – and these people that do it, umm, there will be no mercy for them.”

Yeah, I didn't know much about this Ballard character. I can't imagine myself seeing this movie in the theatres. Politics aside, it looks like Ballard just stroking his own ego.
You can also produce Adrenochrome artificially. There is absolutely no need to extract it from living people. The effects are also well documented, and they don't provide a particularly great high.
The idea of extracting them from people who are experiencing fear is also dumb. That's not the way hormones work. They are stored in glands and released into the blood stream. Getting diluted amounts after they've been excreted into the blood stream would be impractical. You'd want to extract hormones from the gland directly, and not soon after those hormones have all been released.
It's a theory that can be disproven with pretty simple scientific knowledge.

Phew, I was going to go to the 10:00 screening last night but figured with a three hour run-time I couldn't stand going that late, so I didn't bother getting tickets. If only I'd known then what I know now; dodged a bullet that you guys took.

Hearing that they had problems for the 10PM showing last night and the 10AM showing this morning for Oppenheimer at the Chinook IMAX as well. Hopefully they can figure this out soon.
From r/calgary: Seems like the one projectionist in Calgary who could show 70mm IMAX wasn't involved like they were with Dunkirk, and it was a IMAX specialist flown in to run the projection. #Cinema
Edit: Also as of the last 30 minutes or so Chinook is now allowing you to purchase tickets for IMAX 70mm next Friday and onwards. Some amazing seats available right now that won't last long.

Eau Claire Cineplex is the best. Almost empty for every show. And the one theatre is huge and has arena seating and a pretty massive screen — I would say on the same level as an AVX screen. Oppenheimer is playing there in the big theatre.
I'm gonna miss it when they bulldoze it next year.
