Rudy's daughter seems really cool, and supported Biden:

I am not surprised by the overall by the 1/5 support for Trump, but I am a little surprised that it's that divided.

I guess it makes sense. Aside from just the liberal/conservative perspectives, Trump's economic policies specifically targeted Ontario industries more than any others in Canada. The COVID reality in the more densely populated areas in Canada also more matches what has been seen in major American metro areas.

Still, 1/5 isn't really that significant. If America had the same average opinion, Trump would be nowhere near the White House.

It's a little nutty.
FOX News, as well as various social media platforms, have created world view for some people where Trump was extremely popular and was doing an amazing job. To people who got sucked into that grift, they truly believe that Trump could not lose in a fair election. They fell for brainwashing propaganda. They are honestly bewildered that Trump wouldn't completely dominate the election results.

I say that with the full realization that we are all products of what information we choose to believe. I choose to expose myself to more centrist and left-leaning media. Let's be honest, very few people have the time to take everything in and have to decide where they want to get their information from, and most people are going to choose sources that make them the least frustrated.

The difference between the left and right in my opinion though, is that the mainstream left is a lot more critical, and even self-deprecating of itself. There is an element of internal judgement that I don't see on the right. The left is always asking, "What are we doing so wrong that others aren't buying in?", while the right sees internal criticism as a weakness. Which to be fair, it absolutely is at times. In politics, displays of strength typically pay dividends.

The only thing dumber than a Trump supporter is a Canadian Trump supporter.

Were you on that group when Chestermere passed the clear garbage bag mandate? Holy sweet mother of rutabagas, it was insanity. There were people on there levelling death threats against the town administration. I'd imagine it was as insane then, as it must be now with the mask mandate. Chestermereians get a big wigged out about stuff.

It's scary to think of what might come out of this meeting between Trump and the Michigan GOP legislators. It's amazing how easily some of these people are willing to completely destroy their own careers and reputations just to kiss the a** of a failed lame-duck President.

I'm not sure how much comfort this will give you, but they've certainly been saying all the right things on the record. In any other year, I'd be inclined to say that having gone on the record and outright committed not to do anything to interfere with the results, they can't now reverse course. Counterpoint: Amy Coney Barrett.

I’m watching the outcomes of that meeting with Michigan. I’m hoping they do the right thing and tell Trump to **** off. The risk seems small as he’s heading out the door anyway and the risk of supporting him at this stage seems high.

He may be out the door, but through his ardent supporters he still wields a pretty powerful political club.

Sounds like Pennsylvania is next on the list to get an invite to the WH.

https://www.cnn.com/politics/live-ne...2af5495bddac2a

Quote:
Two sources tell CNN there are discussions currently underway with the President about inviting Republican state legislators from Pennsylvania to the White House.

It's not clear if those invitations have been extended yet, but President Trump has expressed interest in doing so as he tries to insert himself into the vote certification process.

This would be another brazen step on the heels of Trump meeting with lawmakers from Michigan this afternoon. The deadline for counties in Pennsylvania to certify their totals is Monday.

This election hijinks is sort of a fork in the road moment for so many Republicans: so many of them have denied reality and facts for so long, but Trump's actually forcing them to act on those pretenses.

Go out on the proverbial limb for the emperor with no clothes. Tough spot for those dolts.

Trump's initial reactions in private when it looked like he was going to win the presidency seemed to indicate a lot of worry on his part. I have no doubt he knew that being president was going to open up his dirt for all to see and that he'd be in serious trouble. He knew this, but he also couldn't stop it from happening as winning quenched his thirst to be adored.

Yeah, I agree. I think there was also a moment where the GOP leadership came to Trump early on and said, "Yo man, you can do whatever you want, you're our man now" - and for Trump, that gave him the confidence to be an absolute buffoon for four years. Likely dawning on him now that the moment he loses his following is the same moment the GOP leadership abandons him as a used-up puppet, and the justice system circles in.

I deactivated my account in April. It was tough at first because checking Facebook was a force of habit thing to do, but I don't miss it at all.

Good.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/202...iness-n1248312

Quote:
WASHINGTON — Progressives are ramping up their public pressure on President-Elect Joe Biden to appoint progressives to key jobs in his incoming administration and keep out corporate executives, lobbyists and consultants.

A coalition of online liberal groups is launching a campaign Friday to direct calls, emails and tweets to Biden transition officials and senators with demands to "keep corporate insiders out of your administration." A related effort, also launching Friday, asks supporters to sign a petition urging Biden to put progressives in his Cabinet, even if it means using recess appointments to overcome GOP opposition.

It's a common tactic, but one liberal grassroots groups have less commonly used against Democrats, especially one who just won the presidency.

Why settle for basic incompetence when you can have unrivaled incompetence?

https://www.businessinsider.com/gop-...n-case-2020-11

Quote:
A Republican celebrity lawyer allied with President Donald Trump filed a lawsuit in Georgia that confused the states of Michigan and Minnesota.

The lawyer, Lin Wood, is a staunch conservative and asked a court to halt the certification of election results in Georgia, alleging that Georgia's Republican secretary of state, Brad Raffensperger, hurt him as a voter by agreeing to a settlement over signature-matching on ballots in March.

Wood's lawsuit included over a dozen affidavits that his lawyers argued proved his case. But one of those affidavits, filed by a Texas resident and cybersecurity expert named Russell Ramsland, centered entirely on election results in Michigan and not Georgia. More than that, as one Georgia lawyer named Andrew Fleischman pointed out, the Ramsland affidavit appeared to confuse Minnesota (MN) for Michigan (MI).
