I would like weather services to change it from predicted temperature to a predicted temperature change from the previous days temperature. Make people have to do some grade two math.
Weather network isn't showing anything above 4c on Tuesday.
I assume they meant the temperature fluctuation from now till then is +16C?
But I too checked the weather and was disappointed we weren't getting 16C Chinook weather.
I might want to take a look at the nearby storm drain over the weekend and flatten some of the taller street snow banks in front of my place. It looks like we might have a week where things will melt down a little bit. I'll do it in hopes slightly more water can drain during the thaw cycle and snow piles on the street don't end up stronger during the next freeze cycle by soaking and retaining as much water.
The snow is soft now, but if it refreezes, hearing that loud scraping sound on the iced snow piles on the undercarriage of the vehicle probably isn't good for the vehicle. It's also the same stuff that usually I'm one of the few who can help, because I keep a steel spreader shovel in my trunks. The steel shovel can break those banks, but the small aluminum and plastic hand held ones just bounce right off of the outer ice shell.
We live on a bus route, and whoever they have plowing our street this year has had the consideration not to pile up foot-high mounds of hardened snow chunks in front of every driveway. So that’s been a nice change.

Not my house.. I am the house at the directly across from a T-intersection. So the Plows move one roads worth of snow directly in front of my house on top of the plowing on the road in front of it. Yesterday was a 2.5ft hard pile in front of my driveway. Not even sure what to do as I have already sent 311 a photo of it.

I noticed that too, I used to dread hearing that ####ing plow come through because I knew I'd be greeted by an ice wall, but last night the plow must have made about 8 passes to prevent that from happening.

Maybe it was a directive from on high. For us, it was just a grunt of a chore to dig out. But for seniors or people who aren’t able, it was a major problem.

Them Noco Boost USB jump starter are on sale on Amazon again. If any of you were having some starting concerns due to the weather, worth grabbing one.
I found my 1000A was sometimes needing around half the bank for jumping my van when cold. Battery condition terrible could be part of it too. Probably could jump the van 2-3x when warm, but I sprung for a 1250A for $12 more as my spare (one for each vehicle). Then no worries about jumping a van twice if bank is frozen cold. Gonna replace the van battery next week.

Those things are fantastic.

If it was a directive from up high they forgot to tell whoever was plowing 10th St. southbound. The plow has completely buried the sidewalk on the east side of 10th St. with a 2-3 ft. wall off ice chunks from the base of the hill to 5th ave.
