I remember in the second period against the Swiss I was ranting and screaming that we should have Luongo on and Crosby on with Iginla. Nobody said anything, nobody even recognized it, I love to say it, I ING TOLD EVERYONE!!!!!!! I felt like I was taking god damned crazy pills.
Uh, everybody thought Iginla should have been with Crosby.

Niedermayer was skating well and handling the puck. It was only the Germans but was his best game so far. Next games are likely the last important game or three that he is playing in his career so I expect him to be great
Would much rather have Phaneuf on this team as the 7th d-man than Pronger, just for the slow down, keep your heads up he demands when the russkies are entering the zone.

I would probably wait until after tomorrow's game on the Luongo thing, that will be the real test.
Getzlaf and Perry have been the worst forwards on the team, IMO, even worse than Thornton. I thought Thornton was decent tonight, but those two... Ugh. Especially Getzlaf. Maybe his injury is just not healed enough for him, I don't know, but he's playing like it's an All-Star game. Just horrible.

Completely agree! I don't know what's with that line, they aren't playing with the grit that we have seen them play with in previous playoffs..
I don't blame you if you skip this, it's more about catharsis...

Unlike Kypreos much of what Mcguire says is more over the top than completely wrong....I don't really have a problem with that
I think he walks the line between passionate and annoying, and does a pretty good job of it.
Mcguire annoys me because he refuses to talk about what actually happens in games, instead choosing to babble about some "story line" that the TSN people have developed pre-game.
-On the Thornton goal he was ranting and raving about Duncan Keith's amazing pass off the boards, which was a smart play, but the pass was INTERCEPTED and Heatley had to knock it out of the air and skate around the net to make the play that actually led to a goal.
-On Iginla's second goal, he describes, with great enthusiasm, the wonderful play of Crosby and how sometimes you don't get an assist even when you deserve one, except Crosby didn't even come close to touching the puck on the play. Crosby made a fine play by driving to the net, but Staal used that play to make a perfect cross-ice pass to Iginla who sniped the shot over Greiss' shoulder as he moved from side to side. The player they focus on talking about is the player who did the least for the goal, but they've pumped up the most.
I don't mean to rant and it has nothing to do with you, but I'm very surprised that nobody else has mentioned the lack of respect that Iginla got from the commentators tonight. Even when they named Iginla first star James Duthie points out how all of his goals have come against Norway and Germany. Maybe they could mention how Iginla has been on for ZERO goals against while playing on the top line and is leading the tournament in goals?! (Gord Miller was an exception, but his job is strictly to describe the actual game so Iginla did well there).
I noticed that too. During the snap daddy call....they didnt say anything good about the actual shot other than the call of snap daddy. They kept talking about Crosby on that play.
I think the US is the best team in this tournament. Russia just looks plain weak. There is alot of hype about Ovechkin in the media, but he hasn't been that great. Malkin is outplaying him. I hope Weber destroys Ovie tommorrow.
Haven't read any previous posts but Jarome was great again tonight with his 2 goals. I also disagree with the TV guys when they say that the coaching staff is trying to find chemistry by moving Jarome around. I think he would play well with any of those players on that team. The same thing with Sid, they're both really great players that can play with anyone.

Russia might have too many stars who play the same way so hopefully their chemistry is screwed up. Malkin has 5 pts but Kovy and Ovy have been quiet. The problem with them is the powerplay is always scary and they have game breakers that just need a little opening and they can score.

Dreger's tweet about the Nash/Crosby penalty shot.
Babcock says the stats dictated why he chose Crosby to take the penalty shot over Nash. Said it's about Canada, not Nash.

I have only been watching CTV for the hockey games, and I'm a little surprised at the lack of "analysis" that the talking heads get to do, it seems that they only get about 30 seconds before the game and between periods (mostly dominated by Kypreos that hack)
Has TSN or sportsnet dedicated more time to analysis?
I'm just a little surprised given the numerous Hockey centric analysts they have to go along with the attention on Mens Hockey, that there isn't more analysis.
I'm not begging for more Kypreos, just wondering.
Maybe we can get Ryan Vandenbussche to sit near him. maybe he would shut up then.
