The flight down there is still there but coming back is not. Would've been a great deal

Yeah the return flights went pretty fast, there weren't too many to begin with.

Hopefully it's a sign of more $200 deals to Vegas.

And I forgot to mention with the WestJet promo codes it actually brought it down to $190 or so.

Nice, can I ask where you're seeing those prices?

If you're on Facebook, I started up a group for YYJers.

You can de-virginize the wall and make that the first post if you'd like!

Just thought I would post this for anyone who might not know about the big discounts all Fairmont hotels are offering this year...

It's been posted on a few sites, used by thousands, without a problem.

Quote:
LUXURY HOTEL STAY AT FAMILY PRICE.

This is a promotion announced by the luxury hotel chain Fairmont Hotels. Till the end of this year, you can use this code to get the Employee Family Rate.

Book ANY Fairmont hotel or resort in the world with the following Promotional Code and Booker ID# and you will be able to make reservations at an EXTREMELY low and affordable rate on Fairmont.com.

1) Go to: fairmont.com to check for availability at the hotel and input NFAF into the Promotional Code field.

2) After you input the promotional code you can then see the available room types and the corresponding lowered rates for whichever hotel or resort you please.

3) Once you select your room type preference, on the following page (step 3) input my Booker ID#(This needs to be given to you by a Fairmont employee) Then you are finished!

*Only restriction is that you can't book more than 90 days in advance.
* You must use both codes for the discounted rate to go through when booking.

To answer one big question that has been asked... Fairmont is encouraging us to promote this offer to fill up their rooms. Due to the current economic situation, the occupancy level at most of their hotels are well below average. The only thing is, you can only book up to 90 days in advance and it's on a first come first serve basis. Good luck and happy travels everyone!

So, the one thing you'll need is the Booker ID# from a 'friend' or family member who works for Fairmont. For whatever reason Fairmont doesn't just want Booker ID#s posted all over the web, but they don't seem to have a problem with people on forums becoming quick friends with a Fairmont employee and using their code.

Bottom line, I'll respect that and if you want the Booker ID # just send me a PM and I'll send one over. The Booker ID I have is from a guy on FlyerTalk who offers this to his 'new friends'.

Apparently there have been some really, really good rates available with this discount, such as $119/night for Fairmont Whistler.

And the code/discount/whatever has been extended until Mar 31.

Will do. They're on Expedia. I used expedia's fare calendar, found some cheap weekend flights and then added hotels to them. That weekend seems to be pretty cheap all around for Vegas.

Calgary to San Francisco and then Lima, Peru - $656 USD

American Airlines just dropped their price from San Francisco to Lima to $333 USD after taxes, for dates in Feb/March/April/May.

You can grab a flight from Calgary to San Francisco for $323 USD in May (Air Canada) and then a flight from San Francisco to Lima for $333.

Pretty good price for two vacations in one. Space out your flights a bit.

Can see it on http://www.kayak.com

Round trip price (both flights) after taxes/fees.

Hey Chris,

Sorry for the short notice but a friend is flying to Comox from Calgary on the 23rd and was wondering if there are any good last minute deals? He is also willing to fly to Vancouver and take the ferry over but would prefer the direct flight. I should mention he will be returning on the 27th. Thank you very much in advance.

Hi Red Sky,

Unfortunately, last minute deals are pretty much a myth, especially over the Christmas season. You'll see that most deals I post are for at least a month in advance.

If he can do Dec 24-28 instead, there's a flight on Air Canada for $595 USD after taxes. Or Dec 24-27.

For the 23-27, the cheapest is WestJet, which is $647 USD after taxes.

If he's willing to do the Vancouver + ferry route, there is Dec 23-27 for $378 USD. So the difference in price might be worth it to him.

Oh and if he flies WestJet, there is a promo code, but $5-10 probably won't be much consolation.

Hey Cymden,

As I mentioned to you before, we're looking to go to Kauai (from Calgary) in April. Westjet just posted a seat sale on their Wednesday flights in April for $767 all in. Saturday flights are two expensive to consider, so we'll stick to Wednesdays (those are the only two days WJ flies to Kauai).

Am I likely to see cheaper? Have you seen cheaper in the past? Since I started looking in July, this is the cheapest so far. Ussually, the "sales" are about $900 return.

Would you book this, or hold out?

EDIT:
I just checked Expedia, and Alaska Air can do Wednesday the 7th to the 14th at $647 ... so WJ's deal isnt that hot.

What price should I hold out for? I dont mind playing the waiting game.

Is Alaska Air ok to fly? I've heard to stay away from United within the US; true?

your extra $100 would be put towards a more comfortable flight, so if $50 extra each way, you will get a personal tv, and a more comfortable seat. Im not sure which model of aircraft the flight will be on with Alaska Air, but you are sure to have less comfortable seats and only a few tvs on the plane. Also is it a connection thru San Fran? Might be a few extra hours of flying.

Hi Draug,

Airline prices are impossible to predict, but this December/January there were some really good sales to Hawaii, both on Air Canada and WestJet.

The best I saw was $388 USD all in to Kahului (OGG). There were some to Honolulu in that range as well.

Now Kauai is a flight that will always be more expensive. If there's going to be a sale to Hawaii, it's more likely to be HNL or OGG, not LIH.

All I can say is if there are going to be sales to Hawaii in April, you probably won't be seeing them until February/March.

You can have problems with any airline, but I have definitely had more than my fair share of issues with United! It could just be that statistically I've flown with them a lot though. Definitely do not ever get a flight with less than 90 minutes connection on United though, I've learned that lesson a few times.

Just thought I'd mention there's a flight from Calgary to Las Vegas from Jan 5-13 for $205 USD after taxes. It seems to only be showing this price on Orbitz, it's more expensive on WestJet's site.

Obviously that's a long time to spend in Vegas, but could be useful for someone wanting to do a trip in the area, perhaps the Grand Canyon.

Also, what is Alaska Air's policy on luggage? Don't many US airlines charge for bags or something? Personally I'd pay the extra bit of money to fly Westjet, having the TV on the flight alone would be worthwhile!

Just wanted to say I love reading this thread even if we aren't able to take advantage of any of the deals right now. Definite 5-star thread.
