Looked like he asked "What happened?" before being walked off into the dugout.

Geebus.

Rios is frickin brutal. Runner in scoring position in a tie game in the 10th, and he strikes out swinging at a pitch 852 feet over his big head.

Since when did he suck so much?

Pretty much since he signed that lucrative contract.

I've sat through my share of bad Blue Jay teams, but always found a way to enjoy watching them play. This is an all-time low, watching them is just painful.

LOL I just checked out the Jays Website and it had the headline that Gibby was fired and Cito was the new manager. I guess with getting home from work/all the NHL draft coverage, I completely missed the ball last night.

IMHO this is an absolutely great move. While this is clearly a publicity stunt, Cito is the ultimate motivator for the players and I am glad he is back.

This is pretty surreal though. Cito? Freaking Cito is back?

I agree completely. Though, IMO, the Jays can't get any worse than they are. I don't think motivation is the issue as motivation doesn't change the ability to hit, but I'm sure Cito can do a better job of handling the guys.

Can it only go up from here?

I thought Cito was best for handling guys with big egos. After the past 3 weeks I don't think anyone on this team has any ego left (side AJ?).

Hopefully Cito is just for the rest of this season, and not a permanent nostalgia-themed distraction from the gongshow that is JP.

Hughson and Rance. OMFG KILL ME NOW. I feel bad for Barfield.

On a sidenote, I saw Jesse Barfields younger son (Jeremy?) play his 2nd A-ball game at the Nat yesterday. I think he went 0-4 (but had a few bad breaks at the plate). On the radio he said he wants to have a gun like his pops.

The Jays are already down 4-0 in the 2nd inning.

Hmmm, I wonder what the outcome of this one will be....

I believe the Pirates have one of the worst team ERAs in the majors, if not the worst IIRC.

Anyways, it's 4-1 now.

Marcum on DL:

http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Baseball/M...949706-ap.html
Quote:
The news wasn't as good for fellow Blue Jays starter Shaun Marcum, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained right elbow.

Marcum, second in the American League with a 2.65 ERA, was to fly to Florida on Saturday to be examined by Dr. Steve Mirabello. Marcum will also see noted orthopedic Dr. James Andrews on Monday.
....
Though Marcum had been pitching well recently - having given up only nine earned runs in his past five starts - Arnsberg said that his elbow had been bothering him over about the past two weeks.
Adam Lind was recalled to replace Marcum on the roster.

This season is pretty much done. All that needs to be done is let Cito work with all the morons who can't hit (Everyone) to try and get them back on track for next year.

Completely off topic, but I love having Marco Scutaro on the Jays. Every time he comes up to the plate I can sing "Marco" and my boys will respond with the proper call back. Makes a father proud.

As echoed above, we all have sat through watching some terrible Jays teams in the past but this is something else. May was such a high and now we're back to the same April garbage. What's most disappointing to me is that I really, really thought they had a strong roster and that they'd be competing if the pitching staff didn't take a step back. Then this happens - so many players performing below career normals, and Rios, I don't know what's with that guy, but he seems to have fallen out of the stupid tree and hit every branch on the way down.

It hurts to watch this team. This is a circus of a team. There's no way J.P. should still have a job. he better be fired by the end of the season.
