Built to Spill released their highly anticipated album "There is no Enemy" on Tuesday. It is fantastic or any one who likes good guitar long riffs, I would highly recommend giving it a whirl!!

I agree. I love that album. They get better w/ every album. I've been listening to that and the new Alice In Chains album almost nonstop. AIC isn't the same w/o Layne, but it's still a very good album.

Grant Hart, Hot Wax:
http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p...0:dpfpxz8ald0e
Years of addiction tend to obscure Grant Hart's considerable strengths as a songwriter, a situation not helped by his erratic post-Hüsker Dü work. After 1999's Good News for Modern Man, Hart drifted away, spending some time as a musician for hire but generally existing outside the spotlight, taking a full decade to return with Hot Wax, his third solo album and easily his richest collection of songs to date. Hart hasn't abandoned the buzzing guitars that have defined much of his music since the days of Dü, but he's certainly downplayed them, preferring to ramp up a latent Baroque pop obsession and spend some intimate, quiet intimate moments with just a keyboard or two. There's variety here, and also craft, a bracing and overdue reminder that there were two excellent songwriters in Hüsker Dü.

3 upcoming releases I would recommend to all the heads out there:
Royce da 5'9 - Street Hop (Oct. 20 '09)
Cormega - Born & Raised (Oct. 20 '09)
Fashawn - Boy Meets World (Nov. 3 '09)
All going to be classics imo. Don't sleep!

Earlier this year The Prodigy released "Invaders must die" and it didn't really go anywhere. I haven't heard the entire cd but I have always liked the title track and I found it for free today. Likely the only song I need to hear on that cd anyway....btw it is remixed and actually sounds better vs the original...

I enjoyed Invaders Must Die, but I went into it with zero expectations. Since they came out with Fat of the Land everything has been different. It was a little more dance club than I expected, but I still thought it was good.
Nice energy to it.
Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned was a fantastic album though.. hard to top it.

Something different - Los Lobos, the most interesting band in the world, covers Disney tunes:
http://disneymusic.disney.go.com/alb...oesdisney.html
Grammy winners Los Lobos are back with a new family album featuring Disney classics performed in a way only Los Lobos can, mixing their brilliant eclectic music backgrounds with old time Disney favorites, this is an album every member of the family will truly enjoy.
Karen O does the soundtrack for Where The Wild Things Are:
http://stereogum.com/archives/stream...ck_092471.html
You've all seen (and cried about) the trailer. Now it's time to hear (and cry about?) Karen O & the Kids' Where The Wild Things Are soundtrack. Like the first single "All Is Love" suggested, the collection has a dreamy childlike feel to it. As we mentioned, though, Karen's Kids include Brian Chase and Nick Zinner, Bradford Cox, and two Raconteurs in addition to that cutesy children's choir, so not everything here -- a noisy guitar riff, a sad ballad, etc. -- is necessarily for (or by) the little ones.

I'm sure someone else must've mentioned this before but. . . The "Them Crooked Vultures" album is coming out November 17 and I'm pretty freaking stoked. Check out the first single:

A buddy of mine attended the recent Austin City Limits music festival and said they stole the weekend. Not exactly a weak sauce lineup either.
