I've seen guys get in peoples face and not actually drop the gloves after big hits...especially when there is a huge weight class difference. Trouba doesn't give anyone that ooportunity and drops his gloves first, while still drawing an instigator.

Never understood this thought process. Clean or not one of your team mates just got obliterated. If left alone then you let the other team take the momentum. I like going after the guy because it sets the tone. This game has been weirdly officiated though and we keep getting the poor end of the calls. But if your guy gets laid out like that you definetely need to respond.

Kind of a big incentive to throw more big hits.

Lucic took two minutes earlier tonight for roughing and put his team down when he was reacting to getting hit himself.

He didn’t stand up and do anything for his team tonight. Isn’t that why Lucic is played? It’s certainly not based on his ability to play effective even strength hockey.

So why is Lucic played if not to set the mystical tone that you can’t run around against the Flames?

Isn't the theory that teams won't run our players because Lucic will make them pay the consequences? Because you could find a 100 players who skate better and are better defensively and offensively for a fraction of the salary. Starting with Ritchie and Duehr.

Flames have overreacted to 3 big hits against and taken the extra penalty all 3 times... All you've accomplished is shown the Rangers how they can easily take control of the game.

I get you want to defend a teammate, but take a number and respond with a big hit yourself.

Exactly. As I get older, my playoff expectations get lower and lower for the Flames, so a game like this might be the best entertainment we get all year. ....and I don't say that quite as spitefully as I used to.

This is totally on Lucic. Trouba should have had to answer. Lucic tunes Trouba and there is no hit to Kari and this game is still tied.

Kadri skates into that hit. It was not a head shot, intent to injure nor predatory IMO from what I saw.

Sometimes you have to take the hit and move on. Kadri walked right into it, and Dube just poured gas on the fire. Now the Flames are in a lot of trouble.
