Wow. This is awful.

John Doe #3 who has a claim against Aldritch played for the Miami Redhawks team in 2012. So did Blake Coleman.

I didn’t watch the video but weren’t the Miami accusations by a hockey camp intern and a rink employee (who was a university student)? Or are these new allegations.

Yes, new allegations in the wake of the Wirtz outburst.

Not technically correct, these clients hired law firms months back and had approached the Blackhawks in December

Okay so come with me on this one.

Maybe... Maybe Rocky Wirtz said he was done talking about it because he wanted to make sure the new accusations got the appropriate attention for the heinous acts by his former employee? You know, to make sure we could focus on them instead of focusing on the older accusations?

That's plausible, right guys? Right?

The knowledge that there were other allegations in the weeds makes this outburst so much more confusing.

I suppose it emphasizes that being rich does not mean you are intelligent or have a moral compass

Edit: Vincent’s perspective is also especially damming to the organization. Unlike the player allegations which could potentially be argued as individual incidents, a team-imposed cover-up automatically implicates a wide scope.

I know we live in an innocent-until-proven-guilty system, but it is very difficult for me to give the Hawks benefit of the doubt. Excellent timing by their lawyers too; All-Star break and after Wirtz shows his true colours.

They aren't mutually exclusive.

It's just less likely if you inherited your wealth from your parents. Why study or work hard, or be honest if you already live in the mansion? Why treat "the help" with dignity or respect?

He's a super rich spoiled brat. He's upset because he paid a bunch of money to make the problem go away, and in his worldview - that's how it works. You pay money to make things vanish, and nobody who works for you brings it up EVER again.

Screaming "none of your business" at reporters is a reflection of this worldview. The faces of the people on stage told you the rest. Too scared to speak up because he's a crappy bully of a boss.

Yeah, that was the reaction of a man who's spent his whole life telling people what to do —and then they just do it because of who he is.
In the video you can see him just not being able to comprehend that these reporters are not doing the thing he told them to do.
Makes it pretty easy to imagine how things went down behind the scenes, then and now.

I've stayed away from this thread since Kyle is a friend of mine, we played together back in the day in Lethbridge and still talk from time to time.

Just wanted to say he knows the amount of support he's had from across the hockey internet community and really, really, really appreciates it. You guys are all awesome.

this. Plus he wasn't even able to comprehend what these reporters were actually asking about. "What are the Blackhawks doing about this going forward?" - "We're not talking about 2010!!!"

Just wondering, when Rocky was asked that question, he must be thinking how would dad answer that question? Then it dawn on him that his dad would say exactly the same thing. Apples don't fall far from tree.

Cynical take, but I'm of the belief that most owners think the same way as Rocky Wirtz... the only thing that's different is the delivery.

Especially if the person is just a trust fund baby who never had a real job in his life and just inherited what his grandfather built, and his father inherited before him. Two generations of entitlement built into this guy's compass.

Bettman basically just defended Rocky's outburst at the All Star presser. I can't wait until that moron is done as commissioner someday. Of course we will get his equally moronic sidekick Bill Dummy probably as his successor.

I'm glad he knows.

The thing is...there are a lot of fathers on this board whose kids are playing hockey right now.

The thought that their kids could be put into that kind of situation? Its long past time that something was done not only to get justice for Beach to make sure the institutions are in place to prevent this from ever happening to anyone ever again.

What really pisses me off is the fact that this has happened before and nothing seems to have been done to prevent it from happening again.

Here's a tweet thread from one of the reporters that asked Rocky Wirtz the questions. Gary's essentially saying that Rocky had a "gamer moment" and didn't mean it

Yea I'm pretty much done with the NHL until significant changes are made. They've really shown how disgusting an organization they are as a whole over the last few years

Wirtz' outburst did seem like a power move, but let's look at one thing in hindsight. Rightfully he had to pay millions to Beach. Now today come reports there are more players reported to be victims. He likely got wind of that before yesterday's outburst. He's an old grouchy dude, and he's probably tired of talking about it. I can see the reason for the outburst to some degree - the guy is probably losing his marbles too. What Gary said is nothing to be angry about because it's plausible. I'm sure the NHL had a conversation with him though, as that clearly wasn't professional of him and it's never good business interest to talk to the public like that.
