I hope he is.

Happy Ward was relieved but, is Sutter brand hockey what this team is built for? He's a great coach but really curious what others think about how his style of hockey suits this team.
No sarcasm intended. Genuinely curious. Would've thought a Boudreau or Gallant to be better fits.

I'm glad this happened on a Thursday, with one day to go before the weekend. I want to see the league wide reaction.
It seems the Flames always do this on a Friday and we're all left hanging for the weekend

Anyhow gotta go to work and visit some serious websites.

This is cringe worthy. You present as some sort of intellectual when your posting history would certainly highlight the opposite. Do you even have 280 words in your own lexicon?

Fans are really happy ---- imagine what's going on in that locker room today. Gio addresses the team: "Guys, I got into an argument with this guy and I had to go to Russia for a year!"
(Sure, it eventually worked out and the experience made me a better player and he made me a better player, so listen up cause there are no more free rides. Otherwise, enjoy the broscht.)

I expect he's going to love guys like Tkachuk, Backlund, Mangiapane, Lucic, Ryan just to name a few of our two-way guys (minus Lucic, he's just a hard worker), and then he'll figure out who works or not with the rest of the skaters. He complimented Monahan's game in the past while he was with the Kings, perhaps he can figure out something there to get the best out of Monny. Bennett will be interesting to see under Sutter, he might be able to define Bennett's role properly.

Met him one early morning (7:00) a couple of years ago in a small town hotel. My daughters midget team was at a tournament.
He spent a good 20 mins talking with the girls about hockey, only half knew who he was, but he was engaged with them and interested in their responses.
It was really nice just two different sexes and generations chatting about hockey.

Outside of gaudreau, why not?
Monahan, Lindholm, tkachuk, backlund, mangiapane, Dube, lucic, Ryan, Ritchie, all seem like guys who can play sutter style hockey.
Bennett seems perfect for a sutter team too, but Bennetts time with the franchise may already be done.

I genuinely think it's Darryl because it was the only logistically available avenue for proven coaches that could step in immediately.
I still think its a terrific move. He's proven that the game has not outgrown him. But yes the Flames do not have the same make up as the LA Kings that he won with. Will be test for all parties.
I'm sure he will be thrilled to have a Matthew Tkachuk to work with though.

I want to make two points.
First, it's never a time to celebrate when someone loses thier job. That's just classless. Who are we? Oiler fans?
Second, I think to many of you remember Sutter hockey from a different time in the game. I'm not ready to anoint Sutter as our savior yet. It seems many are setting expectations super high and that could lead to disappointment.
I'm not being a pessimist. I'm being realistic.

Funny enough, I was driving down 17th yesterday to work and reminiscing on the 2004 red mile for the first time in years and how it brought the city together, thinking "if only the kids today and all the people that weren't here then could see how crazy and cool it was."
