Lol really?
They were fuming at the news of a suspension mere hours ago. Talk about moving goalposts.
This is about what I expected. Theres a definite upside in kassian getting back for the next meeting, as he will be prone to doing even more dumb crap to hurt his team. And still gets a sentence, so great.

"At no point did Tkachuk have the opportunity to square up, drop his gloves or do anything other than attempt to protect himself from the punches being thrown"
pretty obvious to anyone with half a brain... if Kassian wants to challenge him then it will happen at the start of next game...face up, not from behind like last game.
its funnier cause Tkachuk labelled Kassian AGAIN in the third... its not mentioned cause it doesn't fit the narrative...

Not that anyone is afraid of him, but Kassian is the exact brand of meathead to do something extremely dumb, violent, and dangerous in retaliation.
This has the potential to be a tragically idiotic storyline as opposed to an entertaining one.

Basically setting the stage for another Steve Moore-Bertuzzi attack incident that the media will fuel the fire for in the name of ratings.
Should have given Kassian one more game and allow the Jan 29 game to be played with under a different mood. Maybe they'll go back to playing a skilled hockey game (for the Oilers anyway, Flames didn't really do much rough-stuff aside from Tkachuk).
Then by the time Kassian is back for the next game, it will all be old news.

So if Rinaldo ragdolls McLoser, he will only get two games? Seems worth it.

I’m 100% disappointed in this, but 0% surprised.
The NHL continues to allow its prior softness to set the current precedent for discipline. Seems like it will never change.
This happens in any other sport and it’s a season long ban, at least.

I don't think so. Mother Theresa Kassian will be permitted to injure one of our players. As far as I am concerned, this is a permit to "intent to injure".

First game back for him is BOA rd 3. Excellent, Tkachuk and the Flames can embarrass Kassian and the Oilers in their barn once again, and hopefully will lead to the Edmonton media heads exploding from the amount of turmoil this will give to them.
I knew the Edmonton media was pathetic, but they're even lower than I imagined.

This is exactly why all this “didn’t answer the bell” stuff is complete crap.

Yeah, it's weird. That video doesn't seem to describe a two-game suspension.

The thing is that in any sport, all these scrums that occur and fighting in general wouldn't be allowed.
Hockey is played under a definitely atmosphere when it comes to violence and physicality. Altercations after the whistle aren't frowned upon at all. So comparing what other sports would do in this situation is like comparing apple to oranges.
In the hockey world, this would've never be a lengthy suspension, and it shouldn't be. Tkachuk walked away just fine, and we know that the NHL makes this punishment based on results rather than merit. Since Chucky is healthy, this was just a punishment to deter from doing it often.

Kassian is old news. I hope Tkachuk shifts his focus to James Neal the final 3 games.

Expected 2-3 games. Thought it would be three because he only got a double minor during the actual game and not 2, 5 and a game.
Make no mistake DOPS talked to Kassian and know full well his first game back will be against Calgary. All eyes will be on Kassian (especially after his postgame comments) and if he does something offside he’s not going to get the benefit of any doubt.

Like I said, its now up to Calgary to basically take the law into their own hand and warn Kassian off. I'm pretty sure that if Lucic tells him that he's fully prepared to square up and beat him into the ice that Kassian will do his typical cowardly thing and flee back tot he bench.
McDavid deserves a huge hard hit for his chickenshyte act as well.
The NHL has just shown that its really not that serious about protecting its players.

I too would like to see r-e-s-p-e-c-Neal become the next target of some big clean hits.
He'd get pissed but wouldn't be able to skate fast enough to catch Tkachuk as he casually glides away, then knock his own dentures out in frustration, because that tradition must be honored.

Does he mean later in the game? Because as the DOPS said:
"At no point did Tkachuk have the opportunity to square up, drop his gloves or do anything other than attempt to protect himself from the punches being thrown".

Sportsnet is infested with Oilers trash. No wonder Leah got fired for calling a spade a spade.

Watching the replays again - the next BoA is on Lucic and Rinaldo to respond. Kassian is going to have to answer for that cowardice. That’s what the code says. A goon can’t attack an All Star like that and get away with it.
Two games is a joke, much like Edmonton.
