If McDavid doesn't hit Tkachuk back into Kassian's arms none of that happens. He deliberately pushed him back towards that ####ing gorilla.
It was a really good, clean hit. Shouldn't have to drop the gloves for it especially when it's against a meat head goon and not even a star player.

Yes, if you're punching a player in the head over and over again it's fighting.
Like I mentioned before, Bourque did the same thing and got 5 for fighting. You don't need 2 players to fight to give one player 5 and a game for punching another player multiple times.

The thing I like about this year's team is that you know Kassian will pay for that. And Lucic is smart enough that it probably won't be this game. It'll be some game later in the season when the score isn't so close, and he wouldn't want to put his team down for 4:00+ minutes. Because that would be dumb. Kassian dumb.

I lost a lot of respect for Kelly there. I love the guy... but he should know better and the nhl has a serious double standard when it comes to acts of violence like that vs hitting or stick work. One done wrong is intent to injure and an automatic suspension.
The other despite being perhaps more intentional and just as dangerous is 4 minutes in penalties.
