The reason to think Monahan is hurt is that we found out last year, after everyone wondered what the hell was wrong with him, and he looked slow and couldn't shoot... that he was hurt. Not just hurt but in need of multiple surgeries.
So the idea that something has recurred or that he's dealing with some other injury or injuries isn't goofy at all.
The play of anyone else is not relevant in this conversation. Talking about Monahan, he looks like he looked when he was injured last year.

Lead with the shoulder and not the hands/stick like that would be a start. I don't believe his intention was to cross check him in the liver, he knew what he was doing
