He's a very slight guy. I don't think you are going to see him winning board battles or grit but he's smart and if you turn over the puck he's going to make you pay. It will be interesting to see how he handles games where teams punish him physically.

Gudbranson is one of the toughest players in the league and will fight anyone. Anyone thinking a plug like Prout or Peluso would deter him is delusional. He’s probably a top 5 heavyweight in today’s NHL.

Clearly you didn't practice "Tkachuk" enough, Dave.

Keep the opposition on the ropes and they won’t be taking cheap shots risking penalties.
I've seen the guys I listed play the way I wish they would. We don't see it often, and we definitely didn't see much of it last year, but I am hoping this new coach is the path to seeing that kind of game when they want to take liberties

Canucks looks like the team that did a bunch of changes this off season to improve.

Frolik has been a turnover machine so far.

Definitely looking rusty. Giveaways, sloppy passes. They're much better than this.

Kind of disappointed to see Frolik on the 2nd line. Going back to the Gulutzan well of line combinations that wasn't overly effective last season.

Sloppy start to second. Stone not strong on Mott's chance and Backlund with a lazy pass to break out.

Agreed he is a tough player. I don't think any player would deter him from playing his game or making that hit. It's just tough to see a guy like hammer step up to fight him. There should always be a response to a hit like that (a fight) but it should be someone who can handle a guy like Gudbrandson.

Find a guy who can play and drop the gloves. Especially against a divisional rival.

They got this. A little slow out of the gate and looking very much like last year, but they'll rebound this period. Its always tough waiting in the room for a home opener and a period is what it normally takes to get the legs going. This period will say a lot about this club. They're going to rebound.

Or a team feeding off that home opener adrenaline.
