If they're looking at replacements in the meantime then absolutely, no problem. Calgary strikes me as a team that wouldn't consider doing anything about it until the draft or free agency or something dumb.
On the other hand though it could be nicer to Gulutzan to be let go sooner than later to start courting himself to other teams as well. another head coach job would surprise me but could see him as an assistant again

I don't understand why anyone is surprised that the Flames have not immediately fired Gulutzan. Even if it is the right thing to do—even if it is still happening, this management group has demonstrated that they will do things on their own timeline. A week or two is not going to make a difference to what happens in the long run.

Agreed, unless that delay causes us to miss out on a top coach (such as Vigneault).

They can just ask AV to keep it on the DL if they are talking

It won't. If Vigneault ends up signing with a team in the next couple weeks, it is likely the team of his choice to coach in the first place. If he is interested in fielding offers and weighing his options, then he will wait.

Like others I don't mind if they're halting on letting him go because of what happened this weekend as long as they're still starting to look at possible replacements like Vigneault.

The only reason to wait is if they haven't made up their minds. It makes no sense for anyone involved to prolong the decision too long. You aren't doing any favours to Gulutzan by keeping him wondering where he's going to be next year. The Flames brass can't start preparing for the change in direction. Other candidates out there aren't aware of a new opening in the league. If there is going to be a coaching change I suspect it happens this week for sure, and probably sooner rather than later.

My guess is he may well already know officially, if it's going to happen in the next two weeks.
Flames would want him to prepare the family, get affairs in order etc. Humboldt situation takes precedence over everything as well.
Though him talking today would be awkward if he knew his fate already.

This is just pure spitballing but I'd guess this has been a done deal for a while.
The team doesnt just phone in the last few weeks of the season without everyone knowing whats what.

To put away the fear of him not getting fired mostly

I dont care when they actually fire him just as long as they are already talking to Vigneault and working out the details with him on a new contract to coach the Flames.

No, there are other potential reasons:
a. It affects negotiations with potential coaches if they think Calgary might just decide to stand pat.
b. Announcing a change before exit interviews affects those very exit interviews. It also makes the players think their comments on coaches are unwanted.
c. There's enough going on on garbage bag day anyway. Why put in a coach firing as well?
d. It makes sense to let the dust clear on a season and look at it more objectively.
e. If they are intent on firing him as HC, but they are still paying him, maybe there's discussions about other roles for the same salary. Until that is decided, there can't be an announcement.

I feel like a lot of us, me included, will be eating crow whenever the next coach comes to the Flames. He'll be different, sure, but not perfect. Nobody pleases 100% of CP. Not even our young superstars!

With an idiot owner stepping in to "run" the team operations (hahaha, that always works great), I sure hope the Flames can pillage the Hurricanes for a lot more than their unimpressive head coach.
