McDavid's AAV is $2million more than the next highest paid player in the league...and this is him leaving money on the table?

Why do Oiler fans come onto a Calgary Flame based message board and troll?

This is the closest thing to a "win" they've had all off-season. The timing is utterly predictable.

Did I ever say that? I think Textcritics claim he would take Monahan over McDavid prior to the season is certainly open to ridicule. Even in a sarcastic tone...

Open to ridicule? You're an Oiler fan. In the hockey dictionary, your emblem is pictured under ridicule.

I actually think his deal is par for the course of generational players. If I were an oilers fan I'd be pleased with the 8 years but slightly concerned about depth and cap management after this season, especially when Talbot is due a raise (if he continues shouldering 70 games per season)
However, Edmonton is no good and this awful tweet proves it. It also made me throw up in my mouth a little.

I've never seen anyone on this board make any statement like this, and I can't imagine any poster of Textcritic's calibre making that statement unless it was a computer glitch or someone slipping him a mind-altering drug.
There is a poster in this forum (not Textcritic) who made the prediction that Monahan would be a better pick than the Oilers' three pre-McDiver 1st overall picks, and it's starting to look like he was right.

I'll be the guy to say I'd rather have Gaudreau + Monahan over McDavid.
Monahan (27g/51p) + Gaudreau (18g/61p) = 45g/112p
McDavid = 30g/100p
Monahan+Gaudreau cap hit = 13.13 million
McDavid = 12.5 million
For this to be a good deal he's going to have to out-produce our 2 best players. 2 players who out-produced him last year despite both having off years (injuries, no training camp) and basically everything going right for McDavid.

You may want to stop right there.

Woah I won't go around trashing the superior talent of McDavid to our first line players, if you won't go trashing BT compared to your GM. Ok?
They both sound equally stupid doing it.

I can honestly say that I was not trashing him, he is, as I mentioned, a wizard. No implied green text. Most of his moves have been nothing short of spectacular.

I challenge you to show me a single poster who said they wouldn't take McDavid on that contract.
What is being discussed is the implications of that contract, along with the one Draisaitl is going to get, on Edmontons cap flexibility going forward.

Typical longsufffering post. Completely out of the dark to jump in with a drive-by, troll, then disappear once again until the next time.

He is not wrong, though. Show me a single post in this thread which takes issue with the value of McDavid's contract or his value as a player.
Making fun of the Oilers is not the same.
