I was gonna say it's too early to put Tre past the Legendary Cliffy Fletcher, but then I realized I'm old and you said "In my Lifetime".

I know he was before my time but other than swindling Doug Risebrough (which probably not that hard at that time) what did he really do?

Just basing it on this:http://www.nhltradetracker.com/user/...Fletcher/236/1

Mostly had to do with those who were mad about Feaster getting fired, and to some extent Hartley as well. I think you'll also find that the same group by and large were the biggest Sven fans.

In addition to some pretty great trades over the course of a decade or so acquired the following players by draft (or college signings- ahead of his time in that regard)and none of these taken with top 5 picks
Macinnis, Nieuwendyk, Hull, makarov, Vernon, Roberts, Suter, Fleury, Reinhart, Loob, Otto, Macoun, Hrdina, Quinn, Bradley, Peplinski, Hunter, Ranheim, Berezan etc etc

The draft list is a clear indication of the skill set required that led to winning the cup. ^^^

Compare to Detroit where this drafting of talent was unmatched in the league, and Chicago's ability to be a perennial contender based on drafting talent in and moving them out....

The Johnny Draft is catching a bolt of lightening and something Feaster did.

Lol, It's pretty funny going back and looking at all the posts calling for GG head and blaming Treliving for this 'mess'. Special shout out to the classless morons that resorted to the childish name calling they spewed through different threads.

I encourage people to search for 'glue gun' and remember the posters that used it. Don't bother replying to their posts in the future. This board would be much better off and infinitely more readable for it

In defence to the Glue Gun and how it originated, it came from a bad autocorrect and was pretty funny at the time but more of a slight at the original poster rather than insulting GG. It was clearly a one conversation joke but then it did get ridiculous and kinda childish when people were using it to make fun of Glen.

The people crapping all over GG probably weren't truly watching the games, just looking at the results. There truly was an evolutionary change in the way this team played and it happened so slowly and incrementally people were blind to it while focussing on GG's hair and his lack of emotion. Still 50 games left though... plenty of time for people to inevitably pile on GG and Tre again. All it really takes is back to back losses around here.

We had a 'hold posters accountable' discussion after the Gaudreau signing a few months ago, and agreed it's a terrible idea.

This is a fan forum! Not our jobs, and certainly not anything of deep importance. It should be a comfortable place where we have fun as a community and discuss the good and the bad.

I'm sure I could go through your posting history and pick out a few doozies too. I obviously won't because that's my whole point. If you're around this board and contribute enough, you're going to make mis-judgements and some are more expressive than others. Who cares? It's a fan forum.

Edit: Finally, thank you for the wonderfully ironic statement of "classless morons that resorted to the childish name calling"

Yeah nothing like taking the high road by calling out "classless morons". Frankly I am equally perturbed by the self righteous crowd than the sky is falling crowd.

Can we just enjoy the good play and not worry about what other people said a few weeks ago? There is a lot of season left!

People who want to make their opinions known need to stop being so sensitive when they're called out on sounding ridiculous. Somebody wants to go off the deep end, and rant on here about how horrible the team is when things are going bad, needs to deal with a bit of a ribbing when their opinions start looking out too lunch.

I think it's important to state that glue gun was never meant as an insult, and was born out of an auto-correct. It's not derogatory. Kind of silly, but not insulting.

Yeah I didn't actually mean to do it, but I also didn't fix it. I can take the heat. Not the first time I've been wrong and it won't be the last. I'm finally a believer in the Glue. Winning fixes everything.

I'm a classless moron and I'll own it.

And that's fine. But the notion of some sort of penalty for having a bad opinion is awful

Nope. GlueGun fixed this team up better than duct tape ever would have.

I think it should be a badge of honour and a friendly nickname.

Apparently it takes 20 games for the gun to heat up and the glue to melt. Not unreasonable, in context.

What I am most pleased with is the lack of breakaways against the Flames this season. It was a common theme last season and the first ~20 or so games this season. Even when the Flames started winning, there was always a breakaway for the other team.

Things have really tightened up really well. Johnson has been playing well, but I haven't seen him 'steal' a bunch of games, even when the Flames have been out-shot. Now they are scoring well on top of having a decent defence.

I fully expect that by February, there will be some asinine chest-thumping threads on HF about how the Flames have the best top 4 in the league, another one warning people about the Flames going around burning down villages, 'Does Johnson get Vezina Consideration?', and "Gulutzan for the Jack Adams".

It is a sport. Entertainment. People are passionate. There is a difference between the usual trolls and the 'debbie downers' trying to force us all to see how bad things are, rather than how good things are, but aside from them I don't think you can really harp on fans that were screaming for Gulutzan's head. We are fans here, not people in the decision making process, and it it is times like these that shows.

I myself waffled between 'firing' Gulutzan and not. Maybe if there was a candidate I really liked, I would have turned into a screaming nincompoop as well, instead of just the regular nincompoop I am.

edit: Woops - this is the Treliving thread. Yeah, everyone screaming for Treliving to get axed needs to hang their head in shame. Maybe not get called out, but sit their in the corner silently while you contemplate things.

First, it means the Flames are playing well and winning, and secondly maybe...just maybe they'll be less annoying and more patient the next time the Flames fall into a bit of a funk.
Is it fair to to go back and say maybe we were right to be skeptical in the first place?

Just goes to show how the ebs and flow of the season dictate the narrative. Our patience is being tested once again.
