I guess I am expecting that some typical "obnoxious bar behaviour" is going to happen here and there when everything spills out to 17th ave. Especially later at night, when there aren't young kids around.

Lewd comments and behaviour from drunk guys at a bar/club is not uncommon. Girls acting in ways they might regret later is also not uncommon in a bar. Even a few broken bottles and the odd fight happens at a bar (and outside the bar), so it could easily happen on 17th. People will also be pissing in the alleys.

I would love to see late night Red Mile Celebrations maintain a higher standard than what happens at a bar, but I don't expect that to be easy. Good on everyone for positive messaging and reinforcement.

This is what I definitely don't want to see:

-flames chants turning into flashing chants from a mob directed at individuals
-damage to cars
-disrespecting police (we should be thanking them and supporting them)
-damage (or theft) to stores and businesses in the neighborhood
-lighting things on fire
-men without pants
-fireworks near gas stations

I'd like to add two things to your list.

- Calgary tower should be light up with FIRE not LED lights.
- Flames/City of Calgary should have some type of fireworks things going on after series clinching wins.

I dunno I kind of feel like pants should be optional after big flames wins.

Alcohol being the common denominator here. None of this happens if people are sober.

True enough. I guess with our city's century of Stampede Week experience, I am more accepting of some drunken revelry within some limits.

Yes it gets a little raunchy and sloppy at times, but for the most part it is all in good fun and is not at all comparable to the riots in Vancouver 94/11 or Montreal 93.

I like that we can have a pretty wild party yet still walk the fine line.

Count me in on the no pants party.

Donald Duck can get away with it and no cares and he plays with children!

This is not true at all. Sure, most of it is probably alcohol fueled, but to say sober people never do any of these things is just wrong.

But I remember in 04 there was almost like 2 central spots where it got really busy (relatively speaking, the whole damn thing was busy). Right out front of Melrose so 8th to 6th blocks, and then the obvious 4th to 5th block where the Ship is. I assume the latter is still really busy, but wondering with the additions of Jaimeson's and that Pint's place and 1410 becoming a bigger spot if that far corner is now also a busy spot?
The epicenter was right in front of National and Ship & Anchor, and the crowd had thinned out quite a bit by the West end of Central Memorial. It was pretty much done by 7th or 8th street.

I knew the Kilt had closed - but nothing has replaced it? It's a great location (but small space).

Serious? How many sober people are taking their pants off or lighting fireworks near a gas station? That sounds exactly like drunk and disorderly. Uphill battle you're fighting on this one.

An article here from a Toronto reporter that picks and chooses his interviews to cast a light on the Red Mile

"Safe fun red mile" doesn't get page clicks. They have to root out the smut long enough to keep the public interested until there is a riot.

Oh, no riot? Uhhhh...

There were a lot of high-fives. A hand or a shoulder could be severely injured by the number of them as folks gleefully paraded up and down as Tuesday turned to Wednesday.

By the end of the night after game 6, I had to politely ask people to not high five so hard since palm had actually become sore that evening. Such scoundrels.
