I think that would be the best and simplest way- I don't think there would be something else that is free. I don't think you could embed a poll either so you would be sending traffic off the site... not sure if that matters.

I don't think it matters, Survey Monkey is what I had in mind. But we'd need to know which ones to put up, I'm not sure the gallery thread is complete.
Should we start a new gallery thread and have the contributors post the ones they want to put up for voting (or a representative)? I think we can say that there might be tweaking even after someone is chosen.
Or would it be better for someone to just start a new gallery thread and go through this one and post all the logos to make sure they're all captured?

I think a new thread should be started, and people should lay out their submissions based on the two requirements in Bingo's post above: a logo and a smaller icon. Multiple entries from any individual can be posted. Bingo can then narrow down his top choices for voting. Or hell, it's his site, he could just choose from there.
You could have people submit under two columns:
- Main / forum website logo
- Icon / letterhead version
The above don't necessarily have to be different, either.
Bingo will also have the right to modify the preferred logos according to his preference; ie. if there's a color scheme he wants, or if there's a small design change that he think he would like to see.

Surveygizmo works great too.
I worry about some rival board jihading the poll though. Would prefer to keep it to CP-only users without having to log-in or go to an external site.

Hrm never thought about a jihad, that'd be pretty rare wouldn't it? Are enough outside people paying attention to even care?
But that raises a point to, if we put it here, only registered people will be able to vote and not readers.
If it's a thread like Muta said people can voice their opinions just by thanking the ones that they like, though the voting would be nice to be anonymous and that still limits by only logged in people.

vBulletin has SSO with third-party applications. I bet one of Survey Monkey or Survey Gizmo can intake LDAP, AD, or One Login. You would just have to move your vBulletin accounts into the cloud.
Not that you'd want to go through that kind of hassle though. Unless you're thinking longer-term for the site.

definitely my favourite. Nice work.

Built a story post with 13 images in it. I'll attach that to the poll thread and then everyone can open the story to reference which logo they are voting for.
Is it time to post that story board and make sure I have the best version of each of the 13?

Bingo - looks like you are already using WordPress for the blog side of CP. You can easily integrate vBSSO to get people to the page you created, and then run a WordPress Poll plug-in that can handle images. Something to consider for the future.

The future is to abandon vBulletin for Xenforo so don't want to put that much effort in

That'll work too, I guess does it matter if only registered members can vote?
For the poll, do you want to make it multiple choice so people can vote for multiples this time to get it down to the top 5 or so?

So each guy picks 5? 2? I know we can't control how many they pick. Maybe we shouldn't ... pick the ones you like period.
I don't mind the registered guys voting only, makes sense in many ways.

Bingo / Photon: remember that some posts have images that may have multiple versions embedded in one image file. Make sure that you make your choices, and then contact the designer to isolate that version if need be. You could even ask all designers to provide a 'final version' of their logos for voting, each on a standard image size.

Yeah I like that people can pick the ones they like, if it's 10 or if it's 2. We can ask people to try and keep it to a certain level.

Someyear
I've been playing around with it and doing test migrations. Once we have a logo I can pick a theme and then will finalize a how it'll look. After that I'll have to dig into the forum permissions and groups and stuff to make sure all that stuff comes across properly. If that checks out well could be anytime, if it doesn't then might take a while to fix properly.

Pretty easy honestly and a great software to run. Even if your permissions don't migrate quite right, setting them isn't too tough at all.
Back to the logos, like Muta said I think "final" submissions would be a great idea from the ones Bingo wants. Then they can all be within correct size constraints etc.
