Real nicknames do exist, you just don't hear them much. Big Ern, for example. Does anyone actually call him that? Not really.

You're right. That was super fun! A couple of my favourites:

In a couple of posts, Gaudreau was compared to his future one-time WJHC line mate:

Speaking of Rocco Grimaldi—who was drafted the same year in the #33 slot by Florida—he also just finished his NCAA Juniour season at UND. It says here that he is 5'6", and a stocky 170 lbs. In his three year college career he has played 86 games, scored 31 goals, and 77 points...
So, in three years of college, at least he has come close to matching Gaudreau's stat lines from just this year, right?
It's nice to see that Gaudreau will turn out a little better than "Rocco-lite", and looks to have a slightly brighter future than Nigel Dawes. Good times.

^^^ Bonus points to Gaudreau for not being a religious nut bar as well if we're comparing him to Grimaldi.

Rod "The Bod" Smith also butchered Gaudreau's name - God-Drow

Now that's just cruel. That only serves to make Grimaldi look slightly more useful than a potato by comparison.

Grimaldi signed with Florida a couple of weeks ago, interested to see if he can make the team.

I'm all for nicknames, but Colby is dreadful. Call him Big Joe, Joey Joe Joe Junior Shabadoo, Sky Captain of Tomorrow, The Joeman, or whatever - but Colby is an awful name/nickname.

Colby is a kind of cheese. Any other nickname is preferable.

Short quick nicknames also make it easier for players to communicate on the ice when calling for a pass.

Montery Jack?
Would love to see a pic of JG and JC (Montery Jack) standing side by side for size reference.

It could be worse. We could bring in babybel cheese or nacho cheese references
I wonder if the announcers may begin messing up and calling calling him, "Johnny Goal-dreau". He will score even before they're halfway through his name.
Monahan passes to... Goaallllll-dreau Johnny!

I would like to organize a coalition of CP guitarists to all bring axes and amps to the Dome and simultaneously rouse the crowd into a rendition of Johnny B Goode everytime he doesn something amazing.
Could be a finger-bleeder.
