Tyler Hubbard · Belmont Universitywow... i've never had someone twist a genuine statement that was me trying to show love and support for the families that have gone thru such a tragedy. If you ask me mike... you're the one that's being disrespectful by blowing this out of proportion. You've absolutely put words in my mouth that never even came out and i'm offended. But hey what can ya do.. just keep trying to make people happy and love life. good luck brother.
Tyler Hubbard · Belmont Universitythat being said ... to the people of Calgary, if i offended y'all i'm truly sorry.. there is no tragedy that i would take lightly, especially in this case so i apologize if i said something that come off that wrong way but that was definitely not my intention. Y'all rocked last night and we love you guys. Hope we put some smiles on some faces.

And this is why PR firms exist.
He should have apologized and moved on. Calling out Mike Bell isn't really a smart idea.

Florida Georgia Line make flippant remark about tragedy

Early into their set, they open their mouths and, in what’s supposed to be some casual between song banter to show that, yeah, they actually know which town they’re playing in, that they’re in “CALGARY!”, they mention, in vague, terribly awkward terms, a shooting that went on in this city a couple of days ago or something.
Or something.
You came to read a review.
So. With as much thought and effort as they put into that moment, here you go.
Florida Georgia Line were at the Saddledome. They played some songs on stage for a bit. There was sound. There were lights. And there were opening acts.
It was a concert.
Or something.

Not sure what anyone expected from the lawyer. Even if he did know something, he's not able to say.

That video was hard to watch.
Feel terrible for De Grood's parents, the parents of the suspects are often overlooked in situations like this.

Very sad to see that. I don't know if it was entirely appropriate to advocate for his son at that point, but you can tell how sincerely sorry he is to the affected families. You can't fake that kind of emotion.

There have been rumors that the father is very sick. The cane and uncontrollable shaking seem to support those rumors.

To me it sounds more like he's advocating for himself and his wife? (entirely understandable and probably a good move)
Like saying they couldn't have possibly played a role. "Good kid growing up, law school bound... how the hell could we have seen this coming" is the vibe I got from his statement.

Man... that's a really cynical way of looking at it.

I don't think he was advocating at all. It's easy to judge from a distance, but we are talking about parents caught in an emotional black hole of their own trying to come to grips with the fact that their son is accused of mass murder. That would blindside anyone, and it is only natural for them to speak well of their son. They are simply vocalizing what they believed before all this happened. It's really just honest, raw, emotion.

Yes, advocating for themselves. Good lord, some of the things said in this thread are mind-blowing.

Is it not true? It's the exact way I'd look at, and probably the way his friends are looking at. By all accounts, nobody saw it coming... saw I don't think it's a reach to assume his parents were implying that in their statement.
Forget vibe... he said it. "Struggling to understand..."
Tell me what's mind blowing here, flameswin?

I don't think it's true, at all. To me it looked like a confused parent who was struggling to understand what happened to his family, what happened to his son. When he said "we'll never get over this" I felt for him, his life will never be the same again and he has no idea why.
Maybe you are right but I don't see it that way at all.
