Wow, incredible rush by Backs.

Just embarrassed the defender and almost undressed the goalie on his backhand!

Sweden scores twice, Czechs score one and Cervenka up next... misses the net. Swedes win!

It's 2014 and Backlund is playing in Europe. Expect an "I told you so" from someone soon

I so badly want our C position 3 years from now to be...

Reinhart/Bennett
Monahan
Backlund
*someone*

We'd be one of the strongest teams in the league at that position for the next 10 years.

This is what a Stanley Cup winner looks like.

IF that happens watch us have the worst defense core in the nhl. like edmonton-esque.

Get Glover and Haydon in the 2nd round this year (if they are on the board at 34 and 56 they are the #1 guys on my list), and find similar guys next year and you'll get some top end D coming through the pipeline.

In this best case scenario you would also have to assume Backlund becomes a first liner and is traded for a top young dman.

It's unfortunate, but hockey in Slovakia has been going downhill for a while now (although they managed a win against Finland)..

Have to give France credit though. They are having a good tournament. Wins against Canada, Slovakia and Kazakhstan, and a narrow loss to Latvia.

Don't see why that would be the case. Based on where we sit right now it only makes sense to draft a forward and if you have a top 2 pick next year your definitely taking a forward. Those are the best players available. We still need high end forwards as much as we do high end dmen. We have other picks, prospects, assets that we can use to help round out our defence as well. At this point we need help everywhere so I don't see any resemblance to the Oilers.
