I'd prefer meddling prez of hockey ops because he actually has a vision for the team and his first priority is steering the ship in the right direction. Meddling owners don't bode well for running a team.

With the Flames you are acquiring better prospects and get to build from the ground up. Burke has been a respected GM for years and would be a great mentor.

In Van the expectation is likely to try and won right away with an aging roster with owners who will e heavily involved in moving any core player.

We really need to look past the "meddling prez of hockey ops", it's not meddling - it's his job. The way that hockey teams are managed is changing. Brian Burke is the boss of hockey operations, which means he's the one who sets the vision for the team. The GM will be the guy who is hired to do the grunt work to fulfill Brian's vision.

Meddling owners is a problem.
