Lets not forget that Gillis in his introductory conference ripped his buddy Nonis add that with accusations of tampering and just maybe Kevin Lowe would have a better shot at working for Burke.

How long is it going to be before Burke has a press Conf. naming himself the G.M. "after searching high & low for a better candidate".
Who wants to be his puppet?
Amazing how other teams fire the GM and actually have a plan in place.

I can't see any GM with experience wanting to come in and not have full GM power. I realize that maybe it might be jumping to conclusions, but I don't see how Burke could just sit on his hands and not assume some GM tasks.... it's in his blood.
I could see a rookie GM coming in though and liking the situation from a professional growth point of view. Having the experience of Burke over your shoulder would be a good safety net and I am sure Burke would be a good mentor.
Maybe the Flames should go with the Burke/Conroy tag-team, with Conroy assuming more direct GM powers.

How's your rebuild going up north, bud? Or out west, wherever you're at.

I am getting increasingly uncomfortable with both Gillis and Nonis being available and both having Burke connections...

What connections do Burke and Gillis have?

Who wants to be Burkes Puppet? Lots of guys trying to get that position that have never had it. Who wouldn't want to learn from the Mace Windu of Gm's (assuming everyone thinks that the Yoda of GM's is Ken Holland)?
Really do think guys like the Jim Bennings and Mike Futas of the World would salivate at the chance of some tutilege from guys like ol' Burkie.
Strong outside chance though that Darcy Regier ends up Gm though. "Brand" Name GM's always get a job first. Although those comments sound a tad defeatist as Regier could be hired at any time in the past few months, he could be a short list candidate and end up winning the job solely based on EXP.

Slightly off topic but I still feel Weisbrod's removal was unnecessary at that time. Love where this team is trending, but if had a lot of blind faith in that guy.
If Burke wants a puppet, will get a haircut and a few nice suits and gladly accept a position as the lowest paid gm in the league.

Burke has said that 2-3 guys he is interested in will not be available until after the draft. I'm glad he is taking his time and making sure he gets the right guy.
It's looking more and more that teams are going to be going the president , GM route. So gm's that are going to be looking for jobs better get used to the "puppet" saying.
Personally I would rather Burke just took over as GM, but I highly doubt that's going to happen.

I liked his drafting but if some of the rumours were true I can see why he was let go.
Some rumours were that he was in charge of the returns the flames got for jbo and Iggy. Can't blame him or Feaster for Iggy return considering the boston offer was not bad. The jbo return was crap. The only saving grace is that they got their man in Poirier at the draft and that the av's took acid the night before they offered Burke a 2nd for Berra.
The other rumour, which actually came out of Weisbrods mouth, was the draft year when they picked Janko. Weisbrod said that if Janko was not available at 18 when they traded down they would have taken seiloff. Maybe he was just hyping him up, but if true that alone could get you fired.

I have a very strong feeling Nonis will leave Toronto and be Burke's puppet, we have seen these two together again and again.

He's a well liked, highly respected former player. Actually seems win/win.

Conroy will be brilliant in AGM role.
Yesterday a perfect example... Who better to have leading the Flames interests in that process than Conroy.

Honest question, how much time needs to pass for him to "pay his dues" how much time before he's ready?
He's been in the management role for the Flames for over three years now. At what time are his dues paid, 4 years? 5 years?
If Burke wasn't here I'd agree with you but with Burke still guiding, helping him along the way, I think it's time to the hand the reigns over. He comes across as a very sharp hockey mind and his role has seemingly expanded every time he's in the spotlight. We're always talking about wanting to get the next young upcoming GM here to be under Burke, so get the one that's here already. Learning to deal with players, agents, contracts?
Brian Burke wasn't in Philly yesterday to deal with Arnold and Gaudreau, Conroy was.
You or I can't say for sure if he's ready or not but to me he seems like as good of a candidate as anyone. If the Flames don't hire him as GM someone down the line will, and I'd hate to see Conroy to another team. I think he's turning into one hell of manager.
