No debate at all as far as hitting him, the rule is he has to go feet first to get the protection....he didnt.

Now, did Navarro hit him in the head first? That was close and if so should have been flagged, but it appeared it was shoulder first on the one replay.

Absolute dominance from the defence, more so than anytime last year. Gore basically got nothing. The o line getting pressure is something Seattle didn't really have outside of Clemons last year and tonight they are all over Kaepernick. Still missing Clemons and Irvin, and Browner on the corner.

Lynch getting another 100 yards against Sf's defense is nothing to sneeze at. Wilson's numbers pretty plain as SF also has one of the top defenses.
Peanlties will have to be tidied up. Should be a good rematch in a few months.

Adam Schefter is reporting that the league is considering suspending Tampa's Dashon Goldson.

Quote:
NFL is considering suspending Bucs S Dashon Goldson for Sunday's helmet-to-helmet hit as well as his hit history.

Since 2010, Bucs S Dashon Goldson has 15 personal fouls, more than any NFL player. The one Sunday might be tipping point.
He has been fined a couple of times for helmet to helmet hits, including last week. That hit on Graham was particularly nasty, though.

^^ You realize a lot of those stats are pretty meaningless, right? The guy has been good in the playoffs, which is what he's getting paid for because he's a very mediocre QB during the rest of the year.

Most of those stats show what we already know, he played with a great defense and running game (and last year with a ton of help from his buddies the refs).

I make the same argument about Eli Manning. Those Giants Super Bowl teams were good, and Manning made a couple of clutch throws, but I don't count the Tyree catch as one of them. Take away Kyle Williams gaffes in the NFC Championship game two years ago, the coin-flip Tyree catch, and Manning's resume is incredibly pedestrian.

EDIT: His 2011 season was pretty remarkable.

Think Mediocre is a little harsh.

Flacco is a good but not great regular season QB who takes it up a notch in the post season.

Guy who will give you 3,500+ yards, 20-25 tds and 10 interceptions, while giving your team a chance to win each week.

Issue is he is overpaid because his contract was negotiated after he put up one of the best (top 3) playoff performances of all time.

people love to cut down RIvers and his past couple years but does anyone seriously think that if Eli was a Charger, that he would have any rings? he relied on his defense and running game. In the second super bowl, he was in control and played well but he was playing the NE defense, not the Giant defense that Brady had to face.... sometime with QB's such as Flacco and Eli, they are put in a pretty good situations, not saying they arent good because they are but the whole " how many rings?" argument is weak.

The balance of power has swung to the Hawks. That was a game Kaep could not handle.

I see Goldson is appealing his one game suspension for the helmet to helmet hit. He is an ultra aggressive player and a big part of his game is intimidation. I wonder if that is one of the reasons the 49ers let him walk - they were worried about the suspension with the heightened enforcement.

Would the Browns take a chance on Manziel?

http://mmqb.si.com/2013/09/16/seahaw...quarterback/2/

The specter of Johnny Manziel. One scout at Manziel’s absolutely ridiculous game against Nick Saban’s Alabama defense Saturday told me Sunday: “It’s like [wrestler] Ric Flair once said: ‘You may not like this, but you better learn to love it.’ ‘’ Manziel put up 562 yards of total offense, treating the ‘Bama secondary like it was Montclair State’s (464 yards passing, 98 rushing). Manziel, in his third year of eligibility at Texas A&M, could declare for the 2014 draft if he wants to come out, which seems likely. (He can also stay in and play the 2014 college season, and 2015 as well.) But Manziel, to many teams right now, would be undraftable because they’re scared of his mood swings and off-field questions. But it only takes one team out of 32 to fall for him. And some team will, unless he self-destructs between today and draft day.

The MMQB’s Greg A. Bedard was in College Station Saturday, and he’ll report the Manziel story for us tomorrow. I can’t wait to read what he thinks of the kid, and what the pro football men in his rolodex think. As I said on NBC Sunday night, Browns assistant GM Ray Farmer scouted the game. Hmmmmmm. Johnny Dawg Pound!

Bama's D is not quite up to their usual standards, however if he plays like that all season he will go top 10. I feel for the team who has to choose between him and Bridgewater. If you take the safer bet in Bridgewater, Manziel could make you look like a fool.

Carey is by far the worst ref in the league.

Stat from Tirico...

Pittsburgh is 2-11 in their last 13 games including preseason.

That club is in a lot of trouble...holes in their game everywhere.

Losing Pouncey was huge. The defense is still adequate but they're not going anywhere until they can reassemble their offensive line and generate some semblance of a running game.

^Plus, they have some significant cap issues. Hard times ahead in Steeltown.

Broncos LT Ryan Clady may be out for up to 8 weeks. Besides Manning, Clady may be the most important player on the team. Chris Clarke (not THAT one) is his backup and is NOT a starting calibre tackle. Fortunately, they have a pretty nice schedule and a creampuff division. Hopefully, this doesn't get Manning killed.
