If the Yankees lose tonight, the A's get first overall, what a turn of events that would be!
If the Yankees win tonight, they're 1st overall and would play the wildcard winner.
If the Yankees lose and the Orioles win, there would be a playoff tomorrow in Baltimore to determine the East champ and the loser of that game would then host the Rangers on Friday.
If the Orioles lose tonight, they would have to go to Arlington on Friday.
Got it?

So Miguel Cabrera wins the old school triple crown of hitting. If you went by OBP, HR and Slugging, than he didn't win that one losing out on OBP. Oddly enough his on base was down this year from past seasons. Still first guy in 45 years to lead in those three categories, if it's that long till it happens again....I'll be in my 80's.
This years Jose Bautista emerge from obscurity award winner is Chase Headley...dude had 4 homers and like 44 RBI last year...this year he blows up for 31 and 115, and a lot of those post all star break. He'd been in the league for 4 full seasons never doing better than a dozen homers, and 773 OPS.

What should be a day of celebration has turned tragic for A's reliever Pat Neshek. He and his wife have lost their newborn child.

Reminds me of Baltimore's Brady Anderson whose season home run totals as a full-time player were - 2, 21, 13, 12, 16, 50, 18, 18, 24, 19, 8. Not surprising is that the anomaly year was 1996.
Oriole legend.

Not surprised the A's won the division, as of recent the Rangers have been playing like it's already late October.

The boston.com story is 3 pages long. They've had that thing ready like it was Zsa Zsa Gabor's obituary.

Saunders gets the start for the O's in Texas.
It was nice while it lasted.

Don't under estimate Washington's desire to not start Napoli behind the plate despite his ability to call a game like none other.
Does anyone know he Rangers winning percentage when Napoli starts at catcher?

Interesting choice by Fredi González to start David Ross behind the plate tomorrow and not Brian McCann.

Yeah, thats brutal would have hoped knowing they were at least going to the playoffs, they'd have saved a better option for Game 1 of the DS or this game....
Atlanta starting a kid thats 10-1, but he's still a kid.
I'd bet heavy on Texas and St Louis tomorrow.

None the less. This Braves game tonight could put me in a really really good mood ( see DP10 and Popcorn) or the opposite ( see Vodka and depression meds). Cmon Bravos... Let Chipper play some more.

Holy ####! Jason Heyward robbed Yadier Molina of a homer in that second inning.
