Not a great game by Denver and an awful game by Miami.
Congrats to Denver on a well deserved championship.

I’m happy for the Nuggets. And of course my boy Murray. Jokic is the best player in the league. The debate is settled until someone else rises up to the occasion

Kind of reminded of the Lakers Celtics game 7 when Phil Jackson told it would be ok Docs teams know how to lose 4th quarters.
If not for game 7 ot was ugly 6-24 shooting from Kobe.

Denver didn't even have to get out of second gear this series, but this is what you would mostly expect when a 1-seed plays and 8. Butler really fell off after they got up 3-0 against Boston, virtual non-factor in the Finals and if Denver didn't flub that fourth quarter in G2 this would have been a sweep. But now we've gotten through it so onto Ja's suspension.

There's nothing better than taking the championship at home so that game 2 loss was almost a blessing.

Jokic is the best player in the world and I'm not sure how close it is right now.

That Nuggets team is just very likable. Murray, Jokic, KCP, Brown. Also a very unselfish team and a testament to how it is still important to be play as a team.

Don't follow NBA that closely to know this was coming, but the NBA Cup was announced, an in season league tournament like European soccer leagues have.
With "game management" already a problem for the NBA in trying to get its stars to play in games the last number of years, since it really ramped up with Leonard and the Raptors, this will only hurt that cause for both the regular season and or maybe this extra set of games, too.
$500k per player on the winning team is an attempted incentive, though top players like Curry make more than that in a single game.
But clearly the NBA looking at alternative revenue streams.

The games still count to the standings - except maybe the championship game for some reason? If that means those two teams play 83 games, I bet we see load management make a mockery out of the championship game.
And they've put in minimum gp requirements to qualify for rewards (and making All-NBA teams impacts the size of contract you can sign, so it will actually matter to most guys)
I think it needs more stakes than just cash, though. Since they have the play-in games now, I think you could guarantee the winner minimum of a 10 seed (without affecting draft odds) - unlikely a non-playoff team would ever win it, but would make it a bit more interesting for the Rockets and Hornets and Pistons fans.
