Yes, you need a SOFLAM, then they are deadly. Team up with a recon player.
On that note, our platoon has been kicking ass, really loving this game. We had a 12 hour session on Saturday.

Thanks for the info. I play with a friend regularly, so I'll make sure one of has a SOFLAM. I absolutely suck as a sniper though, so I never use that class, is it something you have to unlock?

Unfortunately, yes. (and it's not a quick unlock either)

Looks like I'm going to have to work on my recon class. It seems enough people have unlocked anti-tank weapons from choppers/planes now. I'm getting tired of hopping in a tank only to be blown up about 30 seconds later before I've even made it out of the deployment site. Especially when I have no way of firing back.

Anyone else think that a lot of the maps aren't very good?
I loved almost all the BF:BC2 maps, but I only really like about 3 BF3 maps. For rush anyway, I find most of the maps suck.
I have been playing a lot of rush lately and I usually play conquest, so the conquest version may be better, but the rush versions are terrible. Rarely have I seen a team actually beat all the waves in a rush match.

same thing in BC2, if the attacking team actually won a map in rush you felt like you got rolled as a defender. the only map i'm really not fond of so far in BF3 is the oilfield one. only 3 flags in conquest very close together leaving a bunch of empty space is stupid, and in rush you have such a huge distance to cover to the first mcom station as an attacker and there's no cover, i've never actually seen that map in rush past the first spawn

A little off topic but I really wish that in the near future they would redo Battlefield 1942 with the game play and graphics of the new Battlefields. That game had so many maps as well as being able to play more then just Russians/Americans was great!!

Last night was the first time I simply gave up on a round.
We were playing Rush on the tunnel map and the map is so stacked for the defenders, that once they entrench themselves it is literally impossible to do anything.

I dont even attempt to do that map on rush anymore. It just turns out to be a grenade/rpg war. Absolutely impossible to win.

The defensive team last night had two tanks in the tunnel and were just mowing everything down.

Isn't that what the expansion pack: Return to Karkand, is? They're re-visioned maps from the old game using Frostbite 2 for BF3.

I have no idea, is it all based in the WW2 era as well? I really enjoyed being able to play Japan,Russia,USA,Canada,Germany, and the Brits in BF42.

Back to Karkand is Battlefield 2 maps, he's talking about Battlefield 1942 maps.
I agree, I'd love to see a remake of BF1942

True, Wake's been in a bunch of different BF games.
BF1942 had great maps like Battle of the Bulge, BoB (for planes), Bocage, El Alamein, Kharkov, Market Garden.. man they had awesome maps.
Most of the maps in the expansion are from BF2

I have to say that Origin is a steaming pile of crap and BattleLog, server browser and game launch all through your web browser pisses me off. This couldn't have all been integrated into Origin? So you need to have Origin(which serves no purpose other than a validation platform) and your web browser open to play the game.
Lastly, the friends lists don't sync? Really? I add everyone in Origin and then have to add them all again in Battlelog, it would be less of a piss off if Origin actually let you join off a friend.
It's not enough to turn me off the game but it all seems so unnecessarily complicated and lacks the streamlining that makes Steam so popular. Which in the end is their competition.
|
The whole Battlelog fiasco is because while they started the game focusing on PC multiplayer, during the last half of development, they were told to focus on cranking out the console versions for the deadline so the whole "server browser is outside the actual game" thing is because it was just tacked on at the last moment. It really shows the weakness of Origin compared to Steam which started off not as a store but as a way for players to connect and multiplay with each other.

Based on my games in Bad Company 2, it is completely random. I can go 32-7 and it will drop 22 points, then go 6-22 and get no captures and it would increase by 17.
