The same way Fox news blew up in ratings under Obama is the same reason CNN and MSNBC are blowing up now. It's way easier to attack than defend and that's what people want to see. It's cable news, they're all after ratings. While they may not be as outwardly biased as Fox news is they're all swimming in the same urine filled pool.
Of course they're doing for the ratings. Same strategy has worked for Colbert.

Fox is about as close to state sponsored media as you can get.
It's weird, because like 90+% of the coverage is pure apologia, and then they allow this on the air.
And it's not the first time Smith has done something like this. You'd think they'd somehow muzzle him or fire him.

If:
It's all ratings driven, not idealogical;
It's easier to attack than to defend; and
FOX blew up ratings-wise by attacking Obama...
Then:
CNN & MSNBC would have quickly shifted to attacking Obama during his tenure
But of course they didn't.

I can see them all being in jail by 2018. Pathetic human beings.
Cosmic justice would be the results of the investigation show they were also screwing the Russians, and Russia charges them for something. Then the whole pack of them gets extradited to Russia and serve the rest of their said little lives in a Siberian gulag. That's the most satisfying ending, anyway.
