I thought he was playing way too shallow to begin with after seeing the replay. Play deeper to keep things in front of you.

I blame this game on Smoak and Gibbons. Smoak because of that AB with the bases loaded, and Gibbons for a) Smoak being in the lineup, and b) leaving Grilli in the game after the triple. It was pretty clear that he didn't have it tonight, so get him out of there but nope left him in.

Ya It was very strange he was playing at that depth when the game was that close with a runner on base.
