China and India would eat us alive if given the chance. Both are aligned closer to Russia. Especially considering Canada's recent rifts with both countries. India won't support us unless we cracked down on Sikh separatists in Canada and China is still sore about arresting that Huawei exec. We should try of course to be friendly with them, but they certainly aren't going to be easy on us.
Japan, South Korea, and European countries. Those are the countries we need to align with. If Canada can get it's infrastructure going and the EU invests in Canada, I think a political and economic alignment with them could rival the U.S. and Russia.

I did not know you could buy citizenship in a democratic country. Oh yes, it isn't a democracy any more.

The gold card comes with a hat that says Trump made things better and a gold card you can carry around. You will have to show the card or people will call ice.

You have been able to buy citizenship in Canada for decades at least. Lots of countries offer money for citizenship schemes.

A tiny shred of positivity? Canada's ambassador to the U.S. says that the 51st state nonsense hardly ever comes up during her private discussions with Republicans.
Perhaps they're just telling her what she wants to hear during these meetings, but it sounds to me like the annexation crap isn't being taken seriously by U.S. lawmakers. I'm sure the tariffs are still coming though, regardless of how hard Canada tries to plead our case. Trump is that dumb.
https://globalnews.ca/news/11029278/...an-west-block/
Quote:
Ambassador Kirsten Hillman says her private conversations with members of the Trump administration and lawmakers on Capitol Hill remain focused on building the Canada-U.S. relationship under Trump and showing progress on border security in order to avoid looming tariffs.
“For me here in Washington, (Canada’s sovereignty) almost never comes up in the substantive conversations that I’m having with the White House,” Hillman told Mercedes Stephenson in an interview that aired Sunday on The West Block.
“People aren’t going to be contradicting their president, of course, but it isn’t part of our everyday work that we’re working on.”

I think that's just evidence that it's being peddled as a distraction.

“People aren’t going to be contradicting their president, of course,"
The fact this is just accepted as normal is f***ing weird. Plenty of party members have contradicted their party Presidents throughout all of US history. One might call it...necessary.

It's like science (not that these people know much about that..)
A theory is strengthened through challenge and skepticism.
Trump squirms and gets mad under the same conditions though. He's clearly envious of Putin and being able to gag or take out anyone who voices opposition.
Not fit to lead.. especially in a western democracy. Great fit for a mental facility or jail cell though.
I don't know how there's anybody left in his corner. Tariffs should soon take care of that, I suspect.

If citizenship is worth $5 million maybe Americans should sell theirs and hightail it out of that dump.

MAGA Chairman gets upset when leopards eat "her" face.

Britt Boril addressed Chairman Tim French as “Madam Chairman” during testimony before the Wyoming Senate Agriculture, State and Public Lands & Water Resources committee on Friday. When French protested that his preferred pronoun was “Mr Chairman,” Boril referenced Senate File 0077, “prohibiting the state and its political subdivisions from requiring the use of preferred pronouns.”

No thank you to China.
I think the Democracies of the world should be focusing on more trade and interaction.
Going forward we need to be very wary of China and non-democratic countries.

It would be interesting to see the "market" for citizenship. How much can I make "downsizing" a couple passports and live somewhere relatively warm and politically "okish" like Malta or Thailand with the profits.

Yes. When I was still on FB my feed was full of ads about dual citizenship, ex patriot life. Many of the dual citizenship ads were for Germany, which apparently allows dual citizenship if your grandparents/parents were born there. Many for Czech Republic as well. I was surprised there were very few for Thailand, etc. on the expat side.
