I'm a firm believer that pitching and defense wins championships. You need big hits too, but if you pitch well and defend well, you will win most of your games.
I like this team, and I think if they make the playoffs they will be the toughest out of any team in the post season. Quote me on it, I don't care.

Defense doesn't slump. Most under-rated part of the game

If the Rangers go on to lose tonight, and looks like they will, 3 teams in the West will be separated by one loss. The prize for winning the division is huge, likely first round bye and home field advantage.
I wonder how it will play out with the Blue Jays essentially battling the two teams that fall short for two spots. You’d kind of figure that one of those 3 teams will fall flat down the stretch (Rangers probably).

Isn't Vladdy batting like .420 something with RISP?
I couldn't find that stat, but what I did find was this - RBIs with 2 outs:
2021: T-19
2022: T-44
2023: T-13
so in the last 3 years, he would be top 5 - certainly top-10 at worst (in all of baseball) - for RBIs with 2 outs. But let's not let that ruin a good narrative.

Maybe, but the Rangers have a +181 run differential, 2nd best in the bigs. If the Jays make the playoffs, they will have truly earned it.

Jays get a butter soft schedule after Baltimore for 2 weeks , then end with 2 series against the Yankees who have completely quit on this season
There is no excuse to not make the playoffs

Today the AL has 6 teams with 70 wins or more...the NL has two. Plus the AL is gifting a spot to a weaker Division winner. There likely will at least one AL team miss out on the playoffs with a top 9 win total.

this is partly self-inflicted though, as the bottom AL teams are REALLY bad this year. The bottom 4 teams are on pace to win 25 fewer games than the bottom 4 teams last year. That, more or less, means the top teams have 25 more wins (because the middle of the pack usually looks about the same every year)

Up 3-1 now losing 4-3
Edit: CWS tied it up in the bottom of ninth 4-4!

What a ridiculously easy schedule they have
At least their last 3 series are vs the texan teams, playing the royals and athletics next. They could not have written an easier month to get them back in it. Must be nice to have a team like the Athletics in your division. Free sweeps year round

CWS can win it in bottom of 10th with 1 run. This should be a Bunt and Sac fly?
Edit: I'll take it a blown bunt, run down and a throw hitting helmet of Tim Anderson for CWS walkoff win!

Nah. The narrative is correct. He has 26 hits with 2 outs and nobody on. And only 1 homerun. He is extending innings with little to no damage. Something you want your boppers to do from time to time. Especially in close games.
