Well. They're already in Minnesota so...time to go fishing?

St. Clair sucks. Should have been 2 easy saves.

I kid, I kid...it actually wasn't a terrible pen but if you're going to go straight down the keeper's throat you've got to hit the top of the net.
St. Clair should have had at least 2 saves? Even then though, the Guatemalans knew that even if you put it in a savable spot, if you power it enough it'll likely go through.

Devastated for De Fougerolles but the kid looks good
Shaff wears the goat horns. Liam Millar can’t get healthy quick enough
Complete choke job. Semi finals was the minimum standard considering the whole group was there (minus Eustaquio and Davies).

Similar to the world juniors, sometimes I'm pleased that Canada is knocked down a peg or two because TSN is absolutely unbearable. Pre-game they all predicted Canada win by 3.
These little countries have never won the Gold Cup and fight hard every two years. There are no easy games. No extra time usually favours the underdog but it favored Canada today because they would have lost outright in extra time. It's Guatemala's first ever semifinal on their 4th attempt.
Marsch got a lot of questions answered this week. St. Clair is not a quality keeper, Shaffleberg is nothing more than a super sub. And Choinière should never see a Canadian shirt again, cannot pass the ball at all. Larin is also over the hill, doesn't belong anymore.

The US have a penalty stopper. Freese could have stopped all 6 of those

Worst thing was winning vs Honduras by 6. Between that and the Copa America results, these players now believe they just have to show up to win. Marsch giveth (to the players, confidence, positivity etc) and Marsch should now taketh away, since that positivity from the players morphed into arrogance.
Bring in National Team players from 1987-2012ish to tell some stories of despair to snap these guys back into reality about playing for the country and the once in a career opportunity they have in 12 months.
The Curaco game should've been a wakeup call. El Salvador only got easy when the opponent went to 9. Guatemala even in the dark days of Canadian soccer should be a win. No excuse for 3 poor games in a row.
In the end this is probably a good thing for the WC prep to get utterly embarrassed, as opposed to making it to the semis and losing 1-0, as some players and the team as a collective have to take a good look in the mirror.

It should be a reality check for Marsch too. Some rotating is important but he went overboard if he actually wanted to win the tournament.

It's a catch 22, you can't win a tournament without rotating but Canada doesn't have the depth when rotating either. Especially when missing Davies, Eustaquio, Bombito, Adekugbe, Osorio and Miller. Then lost Ahmed later on. A central midfield of Choiniere and Sigur are beating nobody.
The Americans are playing kids too, Tolkien, Downs, Berhalter took penalties yesterday. But they survived. I thought after Tillman missed the penalty in the first half, they were going to get run over.

I didn't watch, but how can you call this anything but a choke job?
Absolutely disappointing result.
