I will say a pedestrian should not have their head buried in their phone while crossing an intersection. It's crazy how often I see this. Take your eyes off the phone, look both ways, cross the street, then resume watching Tik Tok. You do not want to put your life in the hands of today's distracted drivers.

I just can’t wrap my head around how we’ve gone from look both ways, make eye contact, etc. to head down, ear buds in, others are more concerned with my safety than I am.

Pedestrians are stupid these days. When I was a kid, I was terrified of stepping into the street until it was completely clear.

People just need to be less stupid.

We'd be a lot better off as a species if this were the case. Unfortunately we've made living so easy the dumb aren't getting culled quickly enough, even with pandemics.

The driving habits of people in parking lots is also insane in comparison. Many people can't wait 20-30 seconds for someone to back out. They blast through and honk you like you have eyes in the back of your head and they have the right of way.

I do believe people driving in the lanes have the right of way, but still it only makes sense to be aware of your surroundings at all times.

I was picking up groceries the other day and a Gigantic truck had parked next to me while I was inside. I cant see over or around this massive goddamned obstacle so I'm creeping out of the stall because theres a huge amount of roadway that I cant see because buddy parked the 'GMC: Titanic' right next to me.

So my car is going to be essentially half-way into the lane of traffic before I can see anything coming from that direction.

So yeah, you might have the right-of-way, and yeah you might be frustrated, but you can also reasonably understand that I'm not trying to be a jerk, I just literally can't see around this preposterous monstrosity.

Yeah sure. But if you're like 6-8 cars away and I'm slowly rolling out and can't see you from that far... honking and speeding up to like 20-30 kmph/slowing down to do a stare down is just pure jackassery. This happens way too much.

One of those idiots are going to run over a pedestrian "protecting their right of way" against a different vehicle slowly rolling out 40-60 ft away one day.

Depends on the store and the parking lot. Sometimes if you back in you cant open the hatch/trunk because someone is parked behind you, which is where you put the groceries, etc.

That's fair, I only use my trunk for tools and extra washer fluid. Groceries go in the back seat.

No idea why, just habit I suppose

Calgary's a safe place but I still feel better putting possessions and goods out-of-sight in a trunk or rear compartment.

Another massive win for window tint

Thinking about it, my trunk is just dirty so I don't put nice stuff or food there.

I also order pretty much everything for delivery anyway

Nah, Locke's right. Give cars the right of way and making jay-walking legal again.

It's illegal to cross the road when you're not at an intersection, even if you've looked both ways and it's safe, but you can walk blindly into traffic in a cross walk!?

I drove into the office an hour and a half ago and there was no sign that plows had been anywhere and not so much as a single speck of gravel.

Whats going on folks?

Supposed to stop at 3. I guess I can see the thinking if we want to cut fat.

But I want to cut the other fat that doesn’t affect me.

Is there a snow shoveler service that does ad hoc shovelling. I’m kinda scared to shovel.
