Canada's gonna have to figure out how to play against teams that don't want to play football. But that was wild, it was some sort of sport but football it was not. Maybe the American kind. What Canada didn't do well enough in the first half was move the ball quickly to draw the opponents out of position as well as move it quickly to protect yourself so they couldn't get too close. Nobody is hurt, nobody is suspended. One of those tournament games that sometimes you just have to endure

I don't think De Fougerolles covered himself in glory a few times, he wasn't matching the physicality of the opponents a few times. But he'll learn, and he'll learn how to play in Concacaf

Shaffelburg had a moment in the 38' that is everything about him as a player. Beats the offisde trap and is flying to get on the end of a great long ball over the top. Can't control it one bit and ends up passing it to El Salvador. If he just lets it run he's home free. Love the guy, great effort and speed, but I miss Liam Millar. Shaff isn't a fit against such a low defensive block.

I assume Eustaquio will draw in against Guatemala which is needed. I don't have strong preference for the second midfielder. Sigur and Choiniere both had some really nice moments and both had some not so nice moments. Or Saliba draws back in. Either way, nice to have options. Good to see Kone get some minutes as well.

I'm guessing it'll be Davidē up top as Promise seems a better fit against a low block than Tani who likes to get in behind.

Some rumours out there that Eustaquio flew back to Portugal with Porto and won't be joining up with CMNT. Unfortunate if true, but I don't blame him. He's playing as a makeshift CB and probably feels his spot is up for grabs at Porto and needs to prepare for pre-season. Didn't have a good club season last year and he's someone who needs a great club year for Canada to do anything at the WC.

EDIT: Not rumours, he's in Portugal

It's nice to get out of that game. El Salvador, especially when playing higher-end teams, is the dirtiest team in the region.

Just couldn't finish in the first half, an early goal would have broken the game open. Once up 2-0, disappointing to not score more but also they weren't going 100% since the game and group were secure.

I think Sigur should play higher. He's shown creativity on the ball (assist to Tajon) and he just looks more comfortable there.

I can't decide if Javid's penalty was well struck or well saved or both.

But yea, that game was CONCACAF nonsense through and through that people unfamiliar with it would just go wtf? Clothesline, elbowing, scissor tackles studs up, mass simulation lol.

Nathan Saliba to Anderlecht is official. If he has a good first year in Europe I could see him starting at World Cup alongside Eustaquio.

Get a life Concacaf, hope this puts a chip on the teams shoulder incase anymore motivation is needed to win this tournament.
Footy Prime (I assume others but I heard it on there) reported yesterday that a Concacaf official "misinformed" Concacaf about the interaction with Jesse Marsch and if not for a Canada GoPro backing up what Canada was saying Marsch could've been in a lot of hot water. Wonder if Canada had the GoPro along because they suspected funny business... This could be bigger than the drone stuff (or it should be). Someone at Concacaf has it out for Canada.

But sure would be a great time for the sports media in this country to do some reporting and investigative work on this, or do they only do that when it is time to tear down the CSA?

Good save, but you never want to hit a pk at that height. Keeper doesn't have to go up, or down. Guaranteed David didn't intend to hit it at that height.

Excited for the game today. Say a prayer that we don’t end up 0-0 or 1-1 after 90 and stuck in PKs. Hoping for a real statement victory today after the last couple of duds.

And we can't appeal to Jobu...I think he is firmly on Team Guatemala.

Come out of the gates like bats out of hell and take control early.

This has to be a PK. Maybe a bit soft but just has to be.

Well deserved after the start they’ve had. Now get another and run them out of the building.

Terrible outing for Shaffelburg. He has not looked good this tournament.

Shouldn’t be starting. He has a valuable role on the roster as a 2nd half sparkplug but he’s shown he’s not a starter on this team. Nothing wrong with that either. Agreed that his play has left alot to be desired this tourney.

Would be nice if Choiniere got his #### together in the 2nd half as well. Would like to see Saliba.

He smoked that guy good. I mean it’s not his fault that the guy stumbled into him but he really should have leaned away instead of right into it.
