Grok 4 released last night, and it's really settling into that MechaHitler persona.
Ya, I'm sure this won't be used at all by loser Joe Rogan Jordan Peterson fans to justify all sorts of hate. What a thing to release on the world. Maximally truth seeking should probably have also included some form of empathy, and perhaps a guard rail or three. But hey, at least you can chat to it in your Swasticar.
“I don’t think this board is capable of acting outside of Musk’s interests. So the question then is what exactly does it do?” Elson asked. “Why are these individuals being paid hundreds of millions of dollars?”
A French probe into Elon Musk's social media platform X deepened on Friday, when the Paris prosecutor's office said it had enlisted police to investigate suspected abuse of algorithms and fraudulent data extraction by the company or its executives.
My favourite part of this is where they knowingly admit to having enough extremist views on their platform that their AI was taking them as completely reasonable things to repeat. The solution isn't to de-platform the extremist users who's views created a "horrific" situation. No, it's to just some vaugeries about a "code path". Of course they can't ban the users with horrific views without banning Elon.
Also, the code path doesn't make any sense as an explanation because one of the selling features of Grok was that it would have access to all Xitter posts for info.
Quote:
Select or de-select the option “Allow your public data as well as your interactions, inputs, and results with Grok and xAI to be used for training and fine-tuning.”
If you opt-out, you can still use Grok on the X platform, but your personal data will not be used to train or fine-tune Grok. This setting applies to AI model training and fine-tuning conducted by xAI.
So which is it? Grok trains on X data, or this Grok version had an errant "code path" that led to X data being used when it's not supposed to? That explanation looks to be a load of bull#### to me.

What it says to me is twitter is a cesspool of nazis and grok learned from them to be a nazi.
If anyone you know is still on twitter after all this, think about what they are ok with and proceed accordingly in your interactions with them.
Maybe they arent a nazi but that adage about if theres one nazi in a room with ten other people...guess what
