The value of Robertson is probably more than 2xAndersson. So, thinking that Andersson is the central piece is kind of delusional. He could be additive I guess. I think it's an unprotected flames 1st next year and more. Not even sure why Dallas does that though, not what they need or are looking for.

I like Zellweger, but I would prefer Mintyukov. He still needs work on his defense, but he has NHL size, and skating, with a high-end offensive game and puck-moving ability.

It’s not like EA where players have set values. Andersson is more valuable to Dallas than other teams because he fills a need and fits their window. Same reason Robertson is less valuable to us than Anaheim, and MacTavish more to us than Anaheim or Dallas.

When you combine some of those things, gaps in value can tighten or expand pretty quickly.

I can appreciate that teams would value certain players more, but I still can't rationalize how even 3 Anderssons would be worth a 25 year old 6'3 forward with 2 40 goal and a 100 point season under his belt.

If the Stars trade him it is because they don’t think he is worth his next contract. I don’t think it can be purely rationalized from a value perspective

Here comes Monahammer right on time to take a giant dump on the value of all things Calgary Flames. Like clockwork.

To Dallas: Andersson (50% retained) + Coleman (50% retained) + 2nd round pick
To Anaheim: Robertson
To Calgary: McTavish + Lebushkin

Dallas gets exactly what they need in cap relief, a top pairing defenceman and depth scoring. Anaheim gets the best player in the deal who is only 25 years old and he’s a local kid. Calgary gets the most raw player but he’s a center and is only 22.
I think this is a really fun proposal but there are two problems (in my opinion):

1) I do not think Robertson is worth all of those assets.
  • Andersson (#1RD)
  • Coleman (#2/3LW)
  • 2nd round pick
  • Second and third retention slots for 2025 + first retention slot of 2026
  • 2 year cap dump of Lyubushkin

Either the value of Robertson is too high or the value of Andersson is too low. I am guessing it is both considering the posters that are dominating this thread right now.

2) The bigger problem (again, in my opinion) is the fact that the Stars would be filling their #2LW spot by emptying out their #1LW spot. Coleman is great but I am not sure he should be the #1LW on the Stars.

The Stars are heavy on C, which is why it makes sense to look at moving out a C from an organizational depth perspective, but the Stars are getting really light on LW after moving out Marchment and his 20+ goals.

It makes more sense for them to sign Robertson to the Marner contract after they missed out on trying to land Marner and look to move out a different asset.

I think Robertson is worth more . Much more .

Coleman , a 2nd and retention all have little value . We have seen what retention and dumps are going for now that the cap rises . Not even sure why Dallas wants a 2nd .

If these three teams were all interested I think Zary and Anderson is the starting point . Maybe Zary goes to Anahiem , Coleman to Dallas with Anderson , and Anahiem adds something going to Dallas that helps them now ?

I agree that Robertson is worth more but I don't think that much more. He plays the least premium position and Zary is really good (IMO).

Rasmus + Coleman (50%) + Zary is more than enough for Robertson and I'd argue that we should get a future 2nd in return....like 2027.

Imagine if the Flames excluding wolf and pareyk (wtf his name is) traded any one and assets on the team and landed both McTavish AND Robertson.

Heard something Sec? Also, have you heard anything similar to Royle’s rumour on Flames being the offer to beat for McTavish in the slim chance Anaheim does does work out a signing?
