It's all good - I got it figured out again. For now, anyway.

I've developed a nasty habit of lifting up when hitting my irons or hybrids. I know i'm doing this and yet I keep repeating this over and over.

Golf is such a stupid game. Or, alternatively, my approach is so completely stupid! A few weeks ago, I was playing great golf for me. I was making good shots, keeping things simple and my index was dropping. So, naturally, I decided I should tweak some things and try to improve! Well, I'm playing way worse and those tweaks I was making are killing me. Why couldn't I just leave things alone and be satisfied with slower progress? Like I say, it's a stupid game!

Started the year off really rough but shot two 85's in a row and it looks like the game is starting to come together.

Lol! I'm in the same boat. Started the year off with all my rounds <95/48 (really good for me) and the last 2 weeks I haven't been able to break 100 in 4 outings. I can barely hit a fairway and couldn't pace a putt within 2' of the hole if my life depended on it.

Make sure your ball position isn't creeping too far forward.

Anyone struggle with tennis elbow while golfing? Have you discovered anything that helps?

Mine is SO bad this year. Never experienced anything like it before. Very curious about remedies!

This tennis elbow brace worked perfectly for me when it was really bad earlier in the season, and once it started improving to a point where it wasn't really bugging me much, I have just been using compression sleeves. I tried playing without one last weekend and noticed that it had flared up a bit again (nothing serious but noticeable), so I think the correct "Goldilocks zone" is probably the compression sleeve.

Thank you! I'll give this a try

I've had it all summer (well since April really), have not been able to even swing a club yet. It's driving me nuts, looks like the entire golf season may be a writeoff this year. I can't even grip a club right now.

Not at my tournament but saw a tee sheet with a few of the best forwards in the NHL playing in Victoria today.
A couple beauties from Nova Scotia, and a couple guys who play on crappy Canadian teams.

I found a couple of stretches that worked well for me.

1) Arm straight out, palm facing out with fingers up. Pull back on fingers

2) same stretch but fingers down palm facing you and pull towards you

No idea why it worked, but I was suffering from it right before a tournament in May and a guy in my group in a pre-tourney skins game suggested those. Was gone after a few holes.

I had that problem a few years back. I ended up buying a ProBand BandIT Arm Band. Worked great for me

Quote:
The ProBand® BandIT is the only medically designed device which works with the human anatomy to aid in the relief of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Tennis Elbow pain without cutting off circulation, hampering movement or causing uncomfortable swelling.

The BandIT utilizes Anatomically Focused Dynamic Compression® to turn the natural action of the forearm into a natural pump. Unlike other bands which create a tourniquet effect and can cause uncomfortable tissue swelling, the BandIT allows normal circulation (blood flow) and, unlike most competitive products, may be worn for long periods of time with complete comfort. It is simple to apply and it works in a completely new and unique manner.

It is highly effective in relieving pain commonly associated with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Tendonitis. It is a superior aid for tennis, golf, weightlifting, bowling, racquetball and activities such as the use of keyboards, which result in Repetitive Stress Injuries (RSIs). It stimulates the body’s natural healing process by increasing blood flow and oxygen, by reducing inflammation and muscle spasm and by producing a subtle warmth at the painful site.

I have had golf elbow / tennis many times. I worked at a golf course with a driving range 20 metres from my office. I have had to leave golf games and hockey games because of it. So painful I couldn't even hold my hockey stick. It is caused by a repetitive motion, be it swinging a golf club, shooting the puck, swinging a hammer, digging dirt, etc. It is inflammation of the tendon. Similar to patella tendonitis which I have also had. Too much sports in my younger years.
Being that it is inflammation, my advised treatment was anti-inflammatory meds like ibuprofen and icing and rest. It can be very painful at times but also just nagging. I found the devices help but when it becomes nagging more is required. Your body starts to think the tendonitis is normal. I have found Shockwave treatment worked for me every time. It is non evasive. What it does is inflame / or hurt the tendon even more. It can be painful. Your body then figures out the sore tendon isn't normal and your body starts healing it.
My two cents. I am not a medical expert but still active.

For $40 after 4 here in Osoyoos, I can play as many holes as I want if I walk. I'm going to give it a shot and see how it goes. My old man and I played many 3 and a half hour rounds at Rivershore in Kamloops hauling our clubs in heat that's comparable to Osoyoos 30 years ago or so.

Had not played in 4 years until last week. I sucked shooting 44 on an par 35 track and taking 3 penalty strokes, using someone elses clubs, and zero practice....But now want to go again to see if I can come close to 80 by cleaning that up with some practice. If I can play smart and putt well I think I have a chance...the thinking that keeps mediocre to bad players like me coming back.

You can't walk the Desert, but Park Meadows is very walkable, I do it all the time.

Played Sirocco and Bearspaw this weekend. Sirocco was nice, though I wouldn't describe it as spectacular. Bearspaw has some beautiful spots but it was just too... weird. The elevation changes are in many cases just too drastic, the greens similar, like golf whiplash rather than designing things to just flow. The back 9 was better. I played 2 balls on 18 and one of them I went full "tin cup" trying to hit the green over the water from 220 which was fun. Because of the rain (which we waited out), a lot of people took off and the course was pretty empty.
