Friedman on 960 says Pens will have a lot of interest in Ferland.

It’s pretty natural. Lots of fans don’t spend significant time watching other teams. So they look at a list like the above and the players they know by far the best are the ex-Flames. We don’t all have the luxury of scouting the whole nhl.
I doubt we’d be interested in Ferland as a rental.

He also said Carolina and Ferland aren’t close on a contract
Plus he was as clueless as Steinberg still is about Hamilton here and what the knock was

Eberle hasn't lost his Oiler Stink yet.

UFA status...he won't be happy playing bottom six in a contract year, nor will his agent.

As for Eberle, wasn't he super clutch with Team Canada before he put on the Oiler stink? He could be Gelinas 2.0 for us this post-season. I wish that happens just to see reactions from Oilers fans (Hall winning MVP, Eberle winning cup)

Retained salary or retained as a Flame after the season?

I also don’t get the fascination with bringing Ferland back. Unless I’m mis-remembering was he not shipped out with some suggestions that along with Dougie that he was part of the “doesn’t hate to lose” gang. If I’m wrong, apologies to the player, but I think I’m closer to right than wrong on this one.
I haven’t seen enough of Hayes to have an opinion other than knowing of his history with Johnny. But he’s big and I think they need to get bigger for the playoffs.
I know there’s some on here that “poo-poo” big and gritty and are only obsessed with getting more skill and speed in the line up but I think the playoffs are a totally different animal.
I know it’s probably a pipe dream but the name I seen bantered about once or twice that would excite me would be Schenn but I can’t see how/why St. Lou does that but he’d be the one I’d give up this year's 1st for. And roast me for this one but if we could snag Schenn I’d gladly hitch Maroon to him as part of the deal just for a gritty option in the playoffs.

There is no way Ferland is coming back to Calgary...he was useless when not on the first line and that spot is filled sorry

Did you happen to miss the 2015 first round?
I am not advocating bringing him back but wouldn’t be opposed at the right cost

I think it's in LA's best interests to move Jonathan Quick and the more I think about it the more I think Calgary would be a good trade partner.

I was all on board for going after a proven starter, but the longer Rittich goes on performing at a high level, the more I'm thinking it would be better to just get a decent, cheaper platoon option.

not sure about quick's nmc or ntc, but presumably his contract isn't easy to move if he has those too

Quick doesn't have a NTC or NMC. Friedman has said though that the Kings will respect Quick's wishes about where he wants to go if they do trade him though.

5.8 for Quick is great value as long as he stays healthy. He's a legit #1 and can be argued to be a top 10 keeper in the league. That's not something you will find on the UFA market. I just don't see the Kings willing to deal him within the division. But you take that deal if it's available because the Flames window is wide open for about those four years.

Taking a while to get to 5000

He'd be a great mentor for Parsons down the road but I don't see Quick coming to the Flames.

When you are rebuilding, which is what the Kings would be doing if they traded QUick, divisions don't really matter.
By the time the Kings are competitive again, Quick will just be a cap anchor for the Flames so that works out for the Kings too.

Well, which one?
I'm no expert, but is it a good sign when a guy has back surgery?

Don't agree with the Cap anchor.
Fleury is a year older and will have three years left at 7. I would lump them as comparable goalies, and 1.2 less would be something worth considering.
