Right now I'm working on a site that is adjacent to the runway at the Victoria airport. A few minutes ago a massive Canadian military plane took off and after a quick google search I think it was a Boeing C-17. How can I find out when this plane will be back so I can get a better look? I noticed you guys check a few different sites, but I'm not having any luck finding anything for non-commercial planes. Thanks.
Military flights will not show up on any flight tracker. This is where having some avgeek contacts at airports pays off, because the airport authority (or fixed base operators) will know of movements like this ahead of time.

Ta. There are jets flying over my apartment fairly frequently, but this is the first time I've been able to get decent quality images to have a look at them.

For anyone interested the Nav Canada RJ is currently up flying around testing the navaids and ILS's here at the airport. You may see it flying around the city at a low altitude. Painted blue.
Both those shots are actually stills of videos I took of the jets flying over all afternoon. I would post the videos, as I think they're much cooler, but I understand that doing so here in China warrants two years in jail. I can't see it really happening, but no point looking for trouble.

The air was clearer today, so I got some clearer images. Certainly looks more like the jh7.
Thanks for the identifications. Cool to learn more about what's flying up there.
Here is the clearest shot, plus a couple of cool ones.

Yeah, for sure, the wings give it away. Good to see I'm not the only one who can try to pick out obscure planes.
Pretty interesting aircraft per Wikipedia - fly by wire controls, doppler radar, CAD/CAM designed, etc - but the aerodynamics look very 1970's even though it was introduced into service in the 90's.

It's the Chinese's continually use of old (likely) Russian technology.
I don't know if the Chinese have done anything that is all original to be honest.
Instead of developing their own, they just "borrow" technology and try to make it "better"
The producers of the hit TV series, Ice Pilots NWT are seeking rookie pilots for its new aviation boot camp series. You must have a valid pilot’s license, want to fly vintage planes, live in North America and be willing to be hosted in Yellowknife for about 3 weeks, likely in September 2012. One or more subjects could end up with a job offer from Buffalo Airways!
The dream participants will be outgoing, physically fit, have a strong work ethic and crave adrenaline. If you think this description fits you, please send a video link explaining why you should be chosen to participate to: factual@omnifilm.com https://www.facebook.com/icepilotsnwt
A completely engrossing thread about all technical things Concorde, I'm just starting to read it and the first hand knowledge from those that flew it is really cool:
