No that was burn_baby_burn. I had been hoping for a 3-13 season and thought 2-14 was possible. I think the Chiefs problem is that they are professional losers. They know how to lose, they showed it last year blowing about 5 games they could have won too.
I think the Raiders played an okay game against the Chargers, but that the Chargers aren't all that great of a team either. In fact I think the Chargers defence is average at best and that their offence would be pretty suspect without Rivers.
The Raiders won't be winning no 8 games this year because they have to play 9 games against real football teams and they already blew one of their 6 Division games.
I'm sorry but the Raiders still suck. Just not as bad as the Chiefs. Denver will work them next week. One might argue that of all the 2-0 teams in the NFL right now...Denvers wins are as impressive as anyones save the New York Jets, they beat the Bengals in Cinci, and the Bengals in turn beat the Packers, who beat the Bears who just beat the Steelers. This all after I thought the Bronco's could be pretty terrible too. Yeah the NFL has been that way through two weeks.
The Raiders need Russell to play better. At one point (perhaps the end of the first 1/2) he was 3/13. The run game looks like it could be very potent, but they need Russell to be able to hit receivers in order to keep the defense honest. If he doesn't, McFadden and Bush are going to see 8 in the box every down. Other than the QB position, the Raiders have a lot of bright spots. Run defense still needs some work, but they're better.
I don't buy any of the team A beat team B who beat team C who etc... I could argue that the Chiefs managed 24 points against the Ravens defense, but only 10 against the Raiders, therefore the Raiders defense is better than the Ravens (actually I think that might be true). It's all about "any given Sunday", how the team games plans the entire week, injuries, penalties, etc...
I like the fact that the Raiders get divisional games the first 3 games of the season. Versus Denver will be a good indicator of where the Raiders are in the division. There was no doubt that the Chiefs were going to be the worst team by a good margin and the Broncos and Raiders were going to be close. With the Chargers not looking sharp at all, perhaps it's closer between Denver, San Diego and Oakland than I thought at the beginning of the year.

The Chiefs more or less got 10 points against the Ravens defence as they blocked a punt in the end zone and had a 10 yard field to work with on one of their drives. Of course they also helped themselves by getting their kicker on the field to kick a field goal at the end of the half against the Ravens....something they forgot to do against the Raiders.
Russel was 3-17 going into that final drive. I guarantee the Raiders won't get to play another team that lets them have a chance to drive for the win when their QB plays that poorly and they back him up with about 65 running yards going into the last two minutes of the game. I can't imagine the Raiders have had a game in their history where they played that poorly for 57 minutes and still won. At least their coach is smart enough to get his kicker on the field to put points on the board when he has the chance. Stupid Haley and Cassel.
And yeah, that last interception was pretty bad by Romo.

Yup. Russell needs to play better. He doesn't need to be able to make every pass in the playbook to be effective. He just needs to be able to handle screen passes, passes out into the flats, out the middle to the TEs, slants, etc.... basically, short easy passes to keep the defense from keying on the run game.
We'll see next week. Denver will be an awesome measuring stick.
Lets see if the Giants run game can eat up enough clock so they can kick the winning field goal on the last play of the game. As we've seen lately...the biggest mistake a team can make is put it on their defence to win the game it seems.

Ha ha, the Giants come right down the field to win the game. What is it, does the offence suddnly have urgency that they move the ball. Or does the defence choke.
Nice win for the Giants.
The NFL has had some great finishes to these prime time T.V. games so far.

No kidding. The defense's suck these days. Can they stop anything? Dallas could run at will yet they keep going to throw it away Romo. He won the game singlehanded for the Giants. Despite that if they had any defense to speak of they could still win.
That should have been an easy Cowboys win but they toss it away.

I would say both. When a team is behind they're desperate and throw more (also hurry up offense which prevents defense from substituting). When a team is ahead they stop blitzing. Sometimes I think the defense should call a time out just to slow things down when the clock is already stopped.
The only team that successfully held a lead was NE in Week 1 when they took the lead against Buffalo and then blitzed and sacked Edwards twice in the final drive. Most teams would have dropped back and let the Bills drive the field ... and miss the FG.

Who did you bet on... and how was that team not named the Denver Broncos or Minnesota Vikings. Pick Detroit or Cleveland's opponent every week.
USC's loss is terrible, BUT it's better to lose now and work your way back than to lose late like USC has done in the past few years (Stanford, Oregon St., Oregon, etc...). Although, I watched Cal v. Minnesota... I don't know if USC gets past Cal this year (in Cal, Cal's homecoming game). Jahvid Best is GOOD.
