It's gonna be the same thing all over again when he plays his first NHL season. I'm not worried. He's too good and sees too much of the ice to not figure it out. The guy's a monster.

Has it been reported yet if his jail sentence will affect his draft eligibility?

Getting a jail sentence is possible, but probably not likely. Getting a long enough sentence that it impacts his career is a theoretical possibility so unlikely that shouldn't be an issue.
The bigger issue is how it might affect his ability to cross the border for a period of time and if the case drags out, the overall uncertainty.
My guess is that it might make the difference between going #1 or #2 overall, but no way it drops him out of the top 3.
As a side, it's funny how the whole "he called his mom a whore" thing has become truth to almost everybody. Some random person says it on Twitter, and then everyone repeats it, and it gets adopted as fact. Maybe it's true, but no one really knows at this point.

So I may have missed something here - we're talking about jail time... were the charges not withdrawn? Apologies if I missed the post explaining this already.

One charge (the most serious) was dropped. The rest were not.

The felony charge was dropped. There are still misdemeanor charges pending which are punishable with jail time if found guilty, at least on paper.

I don’t think there is a single person that called him a bust.
I do think there are some fans that have looked at McKenna on the same level as a Celebrini/Bedard type prospect where he skill and numbers suggest he has that generational potential. The start to the year knocked him off that pedestal but no one ever said he would be a bust. His stock as the slam dunk 1st overall pick has also been questioned but if he keeps up what he is doing now there will be no question who goes 1st in June.
I still believe the generational hype and really hope we can draft this player.

Interesting to hear yesterday Steinberg was saying that if the Flames or Canucks were to pick first overall, he's heard that both teams would lean McKenna over Stenberg.
I kind of thought that Stenberg felt very Canucky to me, but I guess it makes sense that they would favour the Canadian born player.

Considered posting this before the World Juniors but decided not to as didn't want to bias people drawing their own conclusions watching McKenna compete on a best-on-best stage or bias the polls Jiri Hrdina was running.
But, found it interesting McKenna was leading the NCAA in expected assists despite concerns over his production relative to strength of opposition. Seemed bound for some reversion. Since? 16 assists in 12 games and all against Big10 opponents. Interested to see what Mitch's next update looks like.

It's par for the course I think. People want to drive clicks to their websites and articles, and tearing down prospects the second they show even a crack in their armor is par for the course.
Positivity doesn't drive engagement in our culture at the moment unfortunately.

Are the Canucks dead set on trading Pettersson? You'd think that a Pettersson Stenberg top line would be a pretty great combo.

They're open if the right deal is there, but Pettersson likely won't waive.
