Eric Francis said it, but more like speculation than certainty. What he said the Wyttenbach said was closer to “I’ll have to talk to the flames and my advisors and decide what is best”. Then Francis added in that he figured he’d likely go back to college for another year.

I wouldn’t take it as fact or anything.

Zero harm, let's suck for a bit longer. Let them brew for free instead of having to listen to posters whine why they aren't in the lineup, game after game.

Wyttenbach's advisors may want him to take advantage if this monster year and get ink to a contract sooner than later. If he goes back next year there is no guarantee he's going to repeat this season and that may hurt his signing potential. I hope he goes back for another year of development, but I could see why his advisors would say otherwise.

Reschny should be going back for sure. Go back and become a gym rat trying to put on some muscle and gain strength. Also gets a shot at the WJC.

Potter and Mews will both be thankful for the college program as they will have access to stet of the art medical and training facilities to help they recover from their injuries and get back to their optimum performance. I hope both recover quickly over the summer and then get signed next spring/summer. We could see a real coming out party for our college players next summer.

Wyttenbach came the USHL route so, unless I'm mistaken, he'd be able to play in the AHL next year regardless as he has no CHL affiliation.

And considering the new AHL/NHL rule allowing one 19 year old CHL player per team per year is supposed to start this upcoming season, Reschny would also be able play in the AHL if we designated him for that single slot.

I think both would probably benefit from another year in college focusing on strength training, but nothing that I'm aware of is blocking them from playing in the AHL next year if that's the route they want to go.

For 2025 drafted players Reschny is ranked #9 and Wyttenbach #17.

Great to see it.

Wyttenbach transferring to a tougher college division would be nice.

I don't think he's ready to transition to the pros. I think it would be a struggle. But it would be nice for him to experience another notch up in the level of competition if possible.

No.. because Howard is on there (37...)... Not sure what their cut off is.. maybe those not currently in the NHL as there are some AHL players there...

But in the same article they say Fowler was called up which removes him from being on this list .. but I guess his reasoning is that Fowler is going to stay up

So in essence adding Howard to have an Edmonton player there.... And the rules of the list are made up

Howard was the one I was going to throw back at that as well. He has played 28 NHL games, which is more than Gridin, Parekh or Brzustewicz.

So it's just arbitrary.

"So we've completed the list for the article. Way to go"

"Wait - where's the Edmonton player"

"oh....."

I wonder if the criteria is 'not currently on the NHL roster' because Howard is back in the AHL

Wonder if you see more guys coming off big years sticking around to collect a bag in NIL deals as well.

Previously if you lit it up you probably want to go make money as quick as you can. Now, Wyttenbach, fresh off a Spittin Chicklets interview and Hobey Baker buzz, can stick around another year, continue to develop, collect another big pay cheque before making the jump.
