So is USA hockey better than Hockey Canada now? Imagine they win the juniors and this tournament.

Old time hockey last night. Like Eddie Shore. It was great.
If Canada gets to the final in Boston it’ll be a crazy game.

In 96 people were saying Americans have caught up to Canadian hockey only to have America win 0 best on best tournaments since. Canada has an insane pipeline of young players coming up that's much better than any other country. People forget Bedard and Cellebrini could have played for Canada at the World Jr's. Add in McKenna, DuPont , Schaefer and Canada is set to dominate international play for decades. They lost 1 game, even in 87 with Gretzky and Lemieux they lost games.

Just wrong. How many times better will they be than the “sane(?)” pipeline of players elsewhere? Compared to Crosby, MacKinnon, McAvi, Reinhart, Makar, etc.?

Regardless of where the best players are born and raised, the fact remains that any Canadian that wants to win a Stanley Cup has to move to the USA. We are rapidly approaching the point where no active player in the NHL was even born the last time a Canadian team won a Stanley Cup.

But them beating us 1 on 1 in competitions doesn't have any merit?

For context, the NHL is currently
Canada - 41.6%
USA - 28.5%
Sweden - 9.8%
Russia - 6.4%
Finland - 5.4%

Like I mentioned earlier, the world juniors is hard to judge when our best players are already in the NHL and not released to play in the tournament.
The US is Canada's biggest competition in hockey, but to say that it's no longer Canada's game, etc... is just buying into the media trying to hype a tournament. The numbers don't lie.
It's like the old "A Canadian team hasn't won the cup in x number of years". Ok great, but an American team won with a roster composed of 60% Canadians.

Right, they don’t lie. Do you think the number will be above or below 41% in 20 years?

Well in the past 25 years Canada hasn't won only one best on best tournament. Granted their hasn't been many but when they are played it's typically Canada winning more often than not

Ok I understand this, but what if they keep winning the 1 on 1s? Gold in juniors and say (hopefully not) this tournament too?

I will if I’m around that long. The number has been declining for years and there’s no reason to think that it won’t continue.

Then hockey in the US will continue to grow and eventually they will pass us.
I think it's pretty common knowledge that the NHL wants the US to win so the game will grow and they will generate more revenue.

Well the odds are stacked against them due to number of teams.

7/32 isnt bad odds at all given enough iterations.
