This ####ing sucks. Ugh. Hoping the family pulls through this, so devastating.

This hits so hard because we all love Johnny and his family.

The Gaudreaus became Calgary's First Family and we loved them. That's why it stung so bad when Johnny left in FA. And that's why this tragedy has devastated us all, because we can't imagine what our favorite hockey family must be going through. The day of their daughter's wedding SMH.

Johnny meant so much to so many. He was to the newest generation of fans what Lanny, Fleury and Iggy were to many of us. I hope the Flames honor him properly (jersey retirement at a minimum).

RIP and thanks for the memories Johnny. You brought excitement back to the Flames and this city. I hope the wordsmiths of CP can do a better job than me writing tributes as I'm gutted and I appreciate reading the comments. #

Prayers and hopes for strength for the family. Such a tragedy on the eve of what is suppose to be an exciting/important day.
I cant imagine how this family moves forward from this.
hoping for some form of comfort for them all eventually

I'll be putting on my Flames jersey for the Critical Mass bike ride this evening.

Any other CP'ers should come and join. Meet up at ContainR in Sunnyside for 6:30pm.

I feel awful, I was completely numb when I first heard the news, nothing seems real right now. The Gaudreau family is a good family who raised their kids right. I still remember what I was doing when I heard the news that Steve McNair was murdered. The wound has never healed for Titans fans and I suspect it never will for Flames fans. Even now when the Titans were doing good and we would see Eddie George talk about the team, I'd still think Steve should be here, he would have loved Derrick Henry. This obviously pales in comparison to what his friends and family are feeling right now during this horrible tragedy. I miss Gaudreau and will miss seeing him play he was one of my favorite players ever.

My email to the Calgary Tower this morning:

Please consider lighting the torch in honour of Johnny and his family today. I think it would help the City of Calgary grieve. Thank you very much.

This f##king sucks. Condolences to the Gaudreau family. There's always a place for you in Calgary.

Retire 13 and build a statue of him for the new arena, too. Rest in peace, Johnny and Matthew.

Beyond gutted. He was one of my favorite hockey players ever. No idea what to say other than hold your loved ones close and never take any day for granted. My thoughts and well wishes to the Gaudreaus.

Last night reading all the rumours hoping it to not be true but as time went on I just had that feeling. Waking up though this morning I never thought I would feel the way I did. Had tears in my eyes reading the news, then telling my wife what happened I almost started crying again. Rest easy Johnny hockey and Matthew!

Just a terribly sad day. Lot's of Johnny memories. One I won't forget. I used to work at Winsport. Flames had summer ice usually every weekday morning. It was usually a mix of a few veterans who stayed in Calgary during the summer, some AHL players and call them up and comers. It was Stampede time and this one morning there was a definite buzz around from the players attending. They were super excited to the point of being giddy. I asked Benny what's going on today. All Benny said was "Johnny's supposed to be here today". Johnny did arrive and I couldn't believe the respect he was given by all the players. RIP.

Such horrible news.

They were so ingrained into Flames hockey I feel like I know them all. As a father of 2 boys I cant even begin to imagine the anguish Guy and Jane are going through. The fact that the family was together about to celebrate his sisters wedding is just completely devastating to me. I'm so sad for his children.

Because of a selfish ####ing drunk impatient driver.

Just gutted for the Gaudreaus today.

Love that family. RIP Johnny and Matthew.

This is so awfully heartbreaking. Rest in Peace Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau.

It's time to give my girls the #13 jerseys I've been saving for when they're a bit older.

Thread title should be changed, makes it sound like it was natural causes or something other than the completely avoidable tragedy it is. #### drunk drivers.

Johnny would always go straight there, skipping the "grown up" food, for the fingers & fries. Such a beauty. RIP.
