He starred down 2 wide open players for a touchdown and took a sack instead.
Not sure that's overcoaching.
I like Fields and think he can be a decent player but it wont be in Chicago, no QB will be good in Chicago.
One of the more embarrassing stats I saw was that Justin Jefferson would be the all time leader in receiving yards in Bears history right now after 3 years and 2 games in the league.

He definitely can be a decent player. Still time to switch to WR or TE, with his speed and elusiveness he could do very well there. But he isn't starting QB material, in the NFL at least. He would dominate the CFL though.

I sum up Fields like this. Behind the line of scrimmage with the ball in his hands he's one of the worst players in the league. Once he crosses it he's the most dangerous

Hopefully this is it for his off-season issues, they've been following him from his time with the Jets ever since the Saints signed him last year.

The Bears might have more issues as their DC Alan Williams who has been away had his home raided along with Halas Hall.
Peanut Tillman FBI informant told the team.
Edit looks like he has tendered his resignation and from what Twitter is saying will never coach in the NFL again.
He joins Mike Babcock.

Alan Williams has resigned as the Chicago Bears' defensive coordinator, the team announced Wednesday.
"I am taking a step back to take care of my health and family. I appreciate the opportunity to work with the Chicago Bears, a storied NFL franchise with a rich history," Williams said in a statement.
"I value the NFL shield and all that it stands for and after taking some time to address my health, I plan to come back and coach again," he added.
Williams, 53, has been away from the Bears since last week with what the team classified as a personal reason.

No FBI or Peanut Tillman stuff.

Among several things happening at Halas Hall on Wednesday, the Bears have let go of their No. 2 quarterback.
Chicago released Nathan Peterman, according to the transaction wire.
Peterman served as the Bears’ backup quarterback to Justin Fields for the first two weeks of the season. He appeared in three games with one start for Chicago last year, completing 14-of-25 passes for 139 yards with a touchdown and an interception.
With Peterman’s release, undrafted rookie Tyson Bagent is now the only other quarterback on Chicago’s roster aside from Fields. Bagnet served as the emergency third QB in the season’s first two weeks.
The team does not have a QB on the practice squad
|
So if Fields gets injured (not a big reach to believe that happens with how many hits he takes as evidenced by his first 2 seasons) the entire franchise is in the hands of.... Tyson Bagent who played D2 college ball and has zero snaps as a professional?
What a dumpster fire that whole organization is.
Drop it and other Bears fans, you have my sympathy.

to be fair, I wouldn't want the entire franchise in the hands of the legendary Nathan Peterman either, so I doubt it makes that much of a difference.

True....but at least he has actually played before, albeit as bad as could be.
Jeez what a mess.

So yeah it's gonna be hard for the Cardinals to outtank the Bears. The Cards are a worse team overall, sure, but they are at least playing hard and aren't a complete cluster####.

Should be time for the annual plea from Bears fans for McCaskey to sell the team to Jeff Bezos. She's only closer to 101 than 100.

To be fair, Bagent won the D2 version of the Heisman (whatever that is).. was recruited by D1 subdivision schools, and his dad is an arm wrestling champion. So theres that
