I can see why Treliving wants to add a defenseman. I'm getting 2016-17 vibes from the Flames' back-end this year.
That year, Giordano, Brodie, and Hamilton were the only guys playing well. Engelland was looking a lot slower, Wideman was clearly done, Jokipakka was in way over his head and Kulak wasn't ready for the NHL. So they traded for Stone and signed Bartkowski.
This iteration of the Flames is in need of a similar change, methinks.
