The play was better - both the pass and the shot. But the moment is what matters for the Kawhi shot. I freaked right the #### out when that one fell. Anyone in the bar who wasn't paying attention to the game must have thought the six or seven of us who were were completely nuts.

I mean the amazing part of the play is the ball is in the air so long it allows OG to get completely set for the shot. That wasn't some heave and prayer, it was a wide open, in-rhythm jump shot you expect him to make more often than not.

True statement: the play that wins you the game is bigger than the play that allows you to win the game. The play that wins the series is bigger than the play that allows you to win the series. This just can't matter more because the outcome is still very much in doubt.
The call wasn't great... Just let the moment be, man. If it doesn't count, it won't matter if you called the shot into question or not. If it does, your ####ty undercutting of a great play lives for eternity.
Kevin Harlan wouldn't ever inflict that on us.

The Leonard shot was amazing, in part, because of the utter silence as it bounced around followed by the explosion when it dropped.
That moment where no one knew if it was going to go in or not is amazing because of its stillness
That, sir, is a reasonable question. Lowry did say that OG was not one of the shooting options they were going for on that play, so it may actually have been an instance where the Celtics had a good idea what was supposed to happen, so when something that wasn't supposed to happen happened, it just worked.
Best explanation I can come up with, anyway.

Celtics were only playing the short passes because they never believed Lowry could complete a cross court pass with a 7'5 guy with an over 8 foot wingspan in front of him. The pass is better than the shot on this one.

Yup, it was such a low percentage pass that they had a quick mental lapse checking nobody was heading to the paint.
One little detail that I love in that play is that Gasol reads it all the way and gets enough of a rub on Brown that Brown's got to take just a slightly longer path to OG, and that probably makes the difference between a clean shot and a tipped shot.

That’s the thing with Gasol, even when he is struggling he always makes the little plays.
