Not sure I remember a quieter draft...

As if a prospect in that city needs any additional reason for their fans to be disappointed in them - he lasted like 2 seconds before those emotions were sewn.
I've watched this reaction about 50 times, and keep nervously chuckling at how screwed this kid is.

Yeah they showed a stat tonight that said only 56% become regulars.
22% in the 2nd round.

Yes, it's the 4th round picks that really count...

Yeah with those odds, why bother drafting at all.
Not drafting in the first three rounds means you have just about zero chance of adding a regular. You can still be a Flames fan and openly admit this result was a serious #$%$ up by Flames management.

You can still be a Flames fan and BELIEVE that this result was a serious #$%$ up, but then that is still an opinion formed long prior to knowing all the results.
· This was a super boring draft.
· Its boringness was greatly compounded by the lack of any first round picks for the Flames.
· I can openly admit that I remain happy that Hamonic is a member of the team.

Well you have to admit. Disastrous season, miss the playoffs by a lot, no picks in first three rounds of draft. Today was the day that was going to suck as a Flames fan as all the talking heads talk about how great these draft picks are.
Things will get better after tomorrow.

Maybe it was me but when the Oilers were up it looked like a few of those highly touted defensemen left looked absolutely petrified that their name may be called next.

Are we feeling bad for Brady for getting drafted by the 2nd biggest tire fire in the NHL? Or just happy hes in the East?

Dobson had a huge grin, I couldn't believe the Oil didn't take him, Bouchard looks ok but for me Noah Dobson is far better because of his superior skating and solid character.

its weird posting drafting odds...
I mean, have the last bunch of stanley cups built their teams from the drafts or from trades?
you can't build winners from trades alone because you have to give up so many picks in order to get someone that is typically mid career...and on the verge of overpaid on their contract
its like expecting to get rich by buying high during a real estate boom or during a bull market.

Good point, but I think even though the Flames don't have F all this draft and its a boring time the team is still in good shape overall. Drafting has been good lately and there are some good prospects.
I live in BC and none of the people I talk to about hockey are Flames fans, yet the general comment about the team is that they are a bunch of really good young players. Funny thing is most of the people I talk hockey with are former high-level junior players or amateur coaches.
I still feel pretty good about this team, and theres always tomorrow for management to improve. I wouldn't have traded Sam Bennett for a single one of those skinny kids drafted after the scorer that fell to Detroit (don't want to butcher his name)!
