When you're sitting here in May clutching the "We finished above Arsenal" trophy as your only trophy, perhaps you'll finally realize to not put the cart before the horse. Win something before you start acting like you're too good for anything, even stupid League Cup.

a manager who hasn't won a single title in his career is in charge of a club which hasn't won any title in forever. Don't you see the irony when he says they only target "important" titles? It's crazy. Spurs fans/managers/etc. bashing the League Cup is amazing in that regard.
You can make fun of the League Cup all you want, it's a title and silverware nonetheless. You might wanna try win one of those for a change, it's fun.

Honestly, that's the only reason I would've liked to see them win it: so that United supporters here couldn't bring that up anymore. I mean look at our biggest rival. They've won what...3 FA cups in the past four years? I wouldn't prefer to be them. Winning a League Cup probably wouldn't silence any critics for Spurs anyway though. It would just change to "well they didn't win this trophy, or that one" instead. It would suddenly be as meaningless to them as it is to me today.

That's pretty funny. I mean you guys were just tonked by Huddersfield. And of course Bristol took Palace out 4-1 yesterday, so you know what happens on Saturday, right?

all I'm saying is that I could understand such an attitude towards the League Cup if you guys had won several bigger titles lately. But you've won zip in a long time. That arrogance towards the League Cup if you've won nothing is just mind-blowing, that's all.

I get that, but seriously, have a look at the string of games. Which would be the obvious candidate to throw the reserves and youth out to play? You're not doing that in the Champions League. Then it's sandwiched between Liverpool and United...which you're not playing a squad like that for. It didn't matter who we played today, it was always going to be a weaker team.
And I know, it's not all about money. But last year Spurs made £38m without even getting out of the group in CL. To win this cup is something like £100,000? You know it's going to get the shaft when those decisions come to bear, and it's just the way it is.

Yup. Spurs will get thumped by United, and later by Real (you really don't think you have a chance there do you?), and then for a grand finale, beaten by the lowly Palace.

I think we've already shown our mettle. The United game with be tough mostly because it's 5:30am here and Mourinho will do his best to avoid actually playing football. Of course Real Madrid will likely win, but we hung with them at their stadium, and really could have easily won that! How many dozens of goals would West Ham have lost by?
It's endearing that this result has emboldened you though. I didn't see you around after Friday and thought maybe you had thrown in the towel.

I won't lie that it has been rather frustrating as a West Ham fan of late...but watching Spurs at their Spurs best cheers me up.

To sum up League Cup, the QF draw has been delayed almost two hours because of technical difficulties.

The fix is in...the four biggest teams somehow magically avoided each other.
Edit: And the draw that was going to be streamed live was eventually uploaded pre-recorded.

Do you know who gets to say the League Cup or FA Cup doesn't matter? A club that has actually walked the walk three years out of four. Spurs have undoubtedly taken proper strides over the last few years but when it comes down to it, they still haven't accomplished what Arsenal did in the FA Cup Final last season. Arsenal put on an outstanding performance when there was a chance to successfully complete a campaign.
Aside from increased expectation and hope, all of your great victories in the past few seasons have amounted to sod all. When you can actually close a deal, you can start talking about the value of deals.

I think it's fantastic that you guys have won a trophy! It's papered over the cracks and now you get a couple more years of Wenger.
(Although I do think the FA Cup is still a cup worth winning, and I don't think I ever said otherwise.)

Harry Kane officially out for tomorrow. I would imagine we see Llorente instead.

Yeah that's a big blow. I guess it could be Son in as well, but this sucks. Honestly, Pochs track record on injuries is concerning because no one seems to come back when they're expected. So a minor tweaks could mean anything...but hopefully not.

that sucks. Good news for United though obviously, especially since it looks like Jones is ready to return. Jones/Smalling against Llorente is a much more pleasant matchup than the feared Lindelöf/Smalling against Kane.

Should Mourinho pick Rashford or Jesse Lingard -- or Scott McTominay or Axel Tuanzebe, for that matter -- it will be 3,883 consecutive games that a United manager has selected a youth team graduate in their match-day squad.
It is a run that started on Oct. 30, 1937 -- the 80th anniversary falls on Monday, the day before United face Benfica in the Champions League -- when Tom Manley and Jackie Wassall played in a 1-0 defeat to Fulham.
To put it into context, Everton also have an impressive run of promoting youth team graduates. After United, it is the longest in the Premier League standing at more than 1,000 games over 21 years.

And looks like Pogba is close to a return also.
Rodgers and Celtic also poised, this weekend, to tie their and the British 100 year old record for being unbeaten in all domestic games. Crap league but to go 62 games and counting unbeaten is still quite the achievement.

Well that's one important title gone for Spurs. But there's always FA Cup I suppose.
